Golden Gate University’s School of Undergraduate Studies invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track Mathematics faculty and department chair position. Excellence in teaching is valued at Golden Gate University, and teaching experience is strongly preferred.  Scholarship of relevance to the public service community is highly valued.  In addition, the holder of this position will have an important role in the leadership, planning and management of the School’s courses, programs, and degrees. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

The faculty member who holds this position should be able to:

  • Teach between four and eight courses per year (depending on other assignments), preferably in areas relating to mathematics, analytics, and/or research
  • Oversee course offerings in Mathematics at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and undergraduate general education courses in Science.
  • Lead in program, course, and curriculum design in the above-named areas
  • Participate in school and university governance
  • Maintain academic and/or professional qualifications
  • Perform other duties, as agreed upon with and assigned by the Dean

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D./DBA) strongly preferred.
  • Ability and qualifications to provide effective oversight of courses in mathematics and general science for students in the undergraduate and graduate programs at Golden Gate University.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist a diverse, adult student population in reaching their desired learning objectives is of prime importance.
  • Extensive experience in teaching in the classroom and online, with experience using online tools and learning management systems such as Colleague or Moodle.
  • A record of engagement with his/her scholarly community and the community served by Golden Gate University.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A high degree of professionalism in dealing with staff, colleagues and students.
