Organization Overview

The Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen Foundation (LAAF.org) aims to be the leader in programs and resources at the intersection of women, giving and leadership. LAAF.org is an operating (non-grantmaking) foundation on a mission to inspire, educate and empower ALL individuals to give, live and lead in a way that matters more. We are a young, evolutionary organization that democratizes access to free, highest quality digital educational resources and LAAF.org Founder’s decades of experience as a social entrepreneur, philanthropic leader and Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) academic. Currently LAAF.org fuels programs and research on giving, women in leadership and intentionally inclusive leadership (Founder’s new model of “Legacy Leadership”). These initiatives include Stanford GSB courses and accompanying case studies, curricula and learning notes, The Legacy Leaders Speaker Series and additional leadership events, MOOCs, and other resources for givers and leaders at all stages.

Position Overview

LAAF.org is at an inflection point in its development as the organization introduces two new significant portfolios of work (women in leadership and intentionally inclusive leadership) and reframes its value proposition in the giving space (formerly strategic philanthropy). The Program Director of Women in Leadership and Inclusive Leadership Education (PDW) will play an important role in elevating the content and insights for and from Founder’s successful Stanford GSB “Power of You: Women in Leadership” course (over half of the MBA2 student body tried to enroll) as well as translating and disseminating that information to a diverse, global audience through multiple platforms. The PDW serves as the in-house subject matter expert (SME) on women’s leadership and intentionally inclusive leadership, and will use their mastery of these areas to ensure LAAF.org’s voice, content and impact in these spaces inspire, educate and empower new generations of women and leaders globally. The PDW will also manage a Program Analyst dedicated to the women in leadership body of work, as well as a part-time research assistant. In addition, the PDW will work closely with and support Founder on content and research as she writes and launches a new book, and executes a strategic thought leadership plan inspired by LAAF.org’s women in leadership work.

Key responsibilities include:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing the Women in Leadership and Inclusive Leadership Education bodies of work and coordinating with the team to ensure the highest quality of content creation and execution
  • Working with Founder to serve as a thought partner to formulate content strategy for Founder’s Stanford GSB course, and execute against this strategy as Founder iterates on the course and produces related original content
  • Managing and mentoring a Program Analyst dedicated to the Women in Leadership portfolio of work and ensuring any work produced by the Program Analyst is of the highest quality before reaching Founder. The PDW will also oversee any work performed for the Inclusive Leadership body of work completed by the Program Analyst, Women in Leadership Education and/or the Program Analyst, Philanthropy Education
  • Conducting and overseeing original and existing research to uncover insights and proven tactics related to women’s leadership development and intentionally inclusive leadership professionally, personally and philanthropically
  • Writing case studies, learning notes, lecture content and other learning materials in support of Founder’s Stanford GSB course, thought leadership platform and LAAF.org website
  • Supporting Founder in creation of undergraduate course on women in leadership and potential one-off workshops for both university students and female faculty members
  • Staying abreast of new research, findings, trends, challenges and public conversations about women’s leadership and intentionally inclusive leadership, and using those insights to optimize LAAF.org’s work and Founder’s thought leadership in these spaces
  • Identifying new points of opportunity for LAAF.org to provide value by proposing new initiatives, processes and content to include in these portfolios of work

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Managing all LAAF.org and Founder’s incoming requests related to the program areas
  • Coordinating with the Digital Media Associate to develop and execute women’s leadership- and intentionally inclusive leadership-themed digital campaigns. Experience writing and creating content for digital distribution is a plus!
  • Overseeing execution of The Legacy Leaders Speaker Series, LAAF.org’s event series elevating the leadership of women and leaders with unique perspectives who actualize values of intentional inclusivity and empowerment
  • Distributing LAAF.org’s biweekly email and social (Facebook Messenger) communication highlighting the latest news and insights related to the foundation’s mission and strategy
  • Developing scripts, key talking points and both short- and long-form content to support Founder’s and, if applicable Executive Director’s, media appearances, speaking engagements, webinars, articles, original podcast and MOOC related to women’s leadership development and intentionally inclusive leadership
  • Working closely with Program Associate, Philanthropy Education (PAP) to leverage shared findings, best practices and applications to elevate LAAF.org’s educational resources

Please note that the PDW role does not include grantmaking responsibilities because LAAF.org is not a grantmaking organization.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A PhD, or Master’s degree with significant field experience, in an area related to women’s leadership development and/or intentionally inclusive leadership
  • A track record of academic excellence
