The Annual Fund Manager is responsible for the annual contributed revenue goals for individuals through stewardship, cultivation, direct solicitation, direct mail, tele-fundraising and subscription gifts. The Annual Fund Manager shares responsibility for overall departmental goal achievement and is an integral member of the fundraising team, particularly through direct donor contact and relationship building.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and manage the Annual Fund
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit donors, both new and current, for the Annual Fund through personal solicitations, direct mail, phone and email
  • Ensure the accurate and timely documentation of solicitations, and stewardship requirements in Tessitura, our donor management system, for all assigned constituencies
  • Provide a reasonable and timely outlook on pledges and payments for all assigned constituencies
  • Assist the Events and Volunteer Manager in providing lists and recommended donor invitations for donor cultivation and stewardship events
  • Assist the Director of Development Operations in managing the donor benefit structure and coordinate with the Development team to ensure donor benefit fulfillment
  • Manage Final Dress Rehearsal invitations for each production
  • Manage the planning and distribution of tickets and material for intermezzos and other production related cultivation efforts and benefits in coordination with the Events and Volunteer Manager to ensure excellent patron cultivation and donor stewardship experiences
  • Work with the Director of Development Operations in organizing and supervising any annual tele-fundraising campaign and direct mail solicitations in accordance with the department annual plan
  • Provide website and social media content regarding the Annual Fund to the marketing department
  • Work closely with Marketing and Communications Department to integrate ticket holder data into development pipeline
  • Maintain donor communication efforts through phone, individual meetings, email and correspondence
  • Assist in coordinating development copy for newsletters, email, playbills, season program, acknowledgements and other materials
  • Other duties, as assigned

COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; polished presentation skills a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and achieve results in a timely fashion
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the fundraising team and with other departments

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 2-3 years of fund-raising experience with demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding organizational goals
  • Experience with relational databases, such as Tessitura or Raiser’s Edge, preferred
  • Evening and weekend obligations during the opera season, including donor cultivation and show performances
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to sit at a desk for up to and over eight hours per day
  • Ability to communicate using a phone and headset
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner
