Position Summary

The Manager, Recognition, is a highly motivated and organized individual, with advanced communication skills, who primarily supports Points of Light’s role as administrator of custom corporate recognition and award programs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in program and database management, as well as knowledge of grantmaking best practices. This position will collaborate with Points of Lights’ departments and external partners and stakeholders. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Recognition and will work closely with Customer Care staff as a member of a lean, high-energy, and fast-moving team.

Position Responsibilities

The Manager will work effectively to meet ambitious impact goals. S/he will:

  • Process inbound nominations for awards programs and manage the award or grant life cycle from end to end including vetting candidates; conducting outreach to nominators and applicants; ensuring all eligibility criteria are met; conducting due diligence; managing nominations and applications; facilitating the selection process; monitoring the progress of honorees/grantees; and reporting on awards and grants.
  • Demonstrate business leadership in overseeing applications and projects
  • Serve as a liaison to internal Points of Light teams (MarComm, Finance, Networks, Recognition, generationOn) to support integration and information sharing
  • Resolve organizations and individual customer inquiries via phone, email, and mail
  • Make recommendations on improvements that drive social impact, donor satisfaction, and optimal honoree/grantee experiences

  • Strong grants administration, project management, organizational and customer service skills
  • A high degree of personal initiative and accountability with the desire and ability to meet aggressive programmatic goals in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a diplomatic style
  • Excellent time management skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills including database management

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience: Minimum four years’ experience required for the position
