Purification Heritage Center exists to preserve the historical roots of Catholicism in Georgia, to serve the local community in which it is located, and to provide a sacred place for people to seek, find and renew faith.  Its goal is to provide a welcoming Catholic environment that serves local and faith communities through beauty, peace and historical connection.

Purification Heritage Center is located in Sharon, Georgia (off Interstate 20 about 2 hours from Atlanta) and includes the oldest Catholic Church in the state of Georgia, two cemeteries and land that will house a future retreat center.

Job Description:

Purification Heritage Center is seeking a contract Development Associate who will work closely with the Board to raise funds through grants, foundations and individuals to fund the second phase of the preservation effort.  This position is vital to the growth of the organization.  As such, we seek an experienced professional with proven success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and pursue funding sources such as grants, foundations, corporations, individuals and other sources.
  • Write grants and submit grant applications.
  • Build substantive relationships with a broad array of funders and actively cultivate relationships with donors and external stakeholders to facilitate funding opportunities.
  • Accurately compile, write and edit all grant applications exhibiting exceptional writing skills and a command of grammar and spelling.
  • Develop individual grant proposals in accordance with grant-making organization’s preferences and follow each organization’s guidelines.
  • Make presentations with Board member (s) as needed

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to Purification Heritage Center’s vision, values and mission.
  • 3 or more years of experience in development and fundraising
  • Proven ability to cultivate leads
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with proven ability to work independently
  • Travel to site for special events and/or meetings

Compensation

Development Associate will be paid $10,000 for meeting the fundraising goal of $250,000.  Contract will be eligible to be re-negotiated after successfully meeting first goal.  Associate would be eligible for a bonus after meeting fundraising goal.
