Development Coordinator Job Description  

Background: 

Tapestri, Inc.  is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ending violence and oppression in refugee and immigrant communities, using culturally competent and appropriate methods. 

Tapestri is seeking a Development Coordinator. The Coordinator will work directly with the Executive Director, Finance Manager and the Board of Director’s Marketing Committee to research and cultivate supporters, manage the organization’s donor database, track and evaluate fundraising efforts, and organize events. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and motivated individual to grow fundraising experience, network in nonprofit development work and expand their knowledge of victims’ rights and services. 

 

Responsibilities include:  

Conducting prospect research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors,  

Maintaining donor and grant databases and files, including calendaring deadlines, logging donations, generating and sending donor acknowledgements, logging donor appreciation efforts,

Manage Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media accounts,  

Supporting creation and dissemination of Tapestri’s annual appeal,   

Assisting with year-round giving campaigns (e.g., Georgia Gives Day and similar campaigns), 

Supporting staff with logistics associated with special events, including assisting with  

creation of invitation list, all logistics, soliciting sponsors, communicating with venue  

and vendors, 

Conduct research and outreach to foundations to identify new opportunities, 

Maintain a master timeline reflecting grant application and report deadlines, 

Strengthen relationships with existing foundations and forge relationships with new ones, 

Write strong grant proposals and grant reports to secure new commitments and renewals, 

Work closely with the program team, 

Schedule meetings and coordinate site visits with foundations, donors and prospects, 

Maintain clean corporate and foundation records in CRM, 

Conduct donor outreach for major fundraising events, 

Attend non-profit technical assistance workshops for government RFPs, 

Perform other duties as assigned .

An ideal candidate must:  

Possess solid oral and written communication skills. 

Be skilled at a variety of computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Word, Word Perfect Excel,  

PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat are mandatory; knowledge of Canva, InDesign and Photoshop are a plus, Database Training will be provided. 

Consent to a background check and have a current driver’s license and clean driving  

record. 

Be able to draft and present solicitations; make the ask. 

Multilingual a plus. 

Creativity and detail oriented a must 

Qualifications:  

Bachelor's degree. 

Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in development/fundraising, including grant writing experience. 

Results-oriented with a proven track record successfully securing federal, state, city and foundation grants. 

Experience in project planning & management; experience managing development budgets a plus. 

Experience with event execution as it relates to development and cultivation. 

Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear and concise materials. 

Strong editing and proofreading skills a must. 

Proficient in computer software programs. 

Previous experience with CRM databases, such as Blackbaud E-Tapestry (preferred). 

Time commitment:  30 hours per week.  

Compensation: $32,000 annual salary
