The Energy Foundation is looking for a dedicated part-time consultant (60 hours per month) to work with the Energy Efficiency for All (EEFA) Coalition of Georgia to support the core members and broader network in their work to secure healthy, sustainable, and affordable housing for low-income families.

The EEFA Georgia Coalition Manager:

  1. Generates and fosters alignment among the coalition members by supporting  the Coalition’s long- and short-term goals to re-shape energy and water statutes and/or policy and substantially modify household energy burden, which disproportionately impacts Georgians living in poverty.
  2. Guides Coalition members through strategy development and decision analysis frameworks in support of achieving its long- and short-term goals.
  3. Builds the long-term health and durability of the Coalition to work with Coalition allies, building mutual trust through facilitation and conflict-resolution services in meetings, workshops, and retreats.
  4. Coordinates communication across the Coalition to ensure parallel efforts are reduced across all types of work including outreach, research, and advocacy.
  5. Creates and maintains an evergreen Coalition-wide system and standards of practice to document and archive the Coalition’s work products, building transparency and collaboration into the Coalition’s culture.
  6. Facilitates work plan development and manages timelines for the Coalition’s efforts.
  7. Works in collaboration with the EEFA Coalition state lead and the members  to support the creation of a communications strategy.

Position Summary

The consultant’s primary responsibility is to support the work of the EEFA Georgia Coalition by acting as a project manager for their internal initiatives/work plans, setting up and facilitating committee meetings, supporting external communication, and developing/managing systems to better organize the Coalition’s collective work.

The consultant will work with the Regional Director, State Lead, and Coalition members to set up and manage Coalition working group(s) and committee meetings, track progress on projects, foster relationships within and external to the Coalition, and coordinate external communications. The Coalition manager will work with multiple initiatives, coordinating across organizations, teams, and consultants.

The ideal consultant has strong communication and organizational skills, and is able to shape and guide communication and cooperation between busy individuals.

The consultant should demonstrate a collegial attitude and an ability to keep cool in a fast-moving environment, where changing circumstances often require an ability to refocus and adapt. We are looking for a consultant who will take an interest in the strategies we develop, helping us test and challenge ideas as we work together in a collaborative team environment. Strong communication and writing skills and the ability to summarize complex information and outcomes are essential. Facilitation experience is highly preferred.

Prospective consultants should have a demonstrated commitment to the EEFA vision of an equitable clean energy future, and a background in Coalition work, social justice, affordable housing, energy and climate policy, or campaigns.

 

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and handle logistics for calls, meetings, and events.
  • Facilitate working group(s) and/or committee meetings.
  • Support information sharing and learning networks among Coalition members and thought leaders.
  • Generate and implement ideas for systems, program, and operational improvement.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with Coalition members and the network. Contribute to a positive working environment.
  • Manage project activities, work plan, and events in coordination with Coalition members.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, plus minimum of three to five years of experience. (Bachelor’s degree requirement may be substituted for equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: coalition-building and management, facilitation, environmental justice, affordable housing, electricity regulation, renewable energy, climate, environmental studies, or public policy or candidate campaigns.
  • Technical skills: intermediate or advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; familiarity with DropBox, Google Drive, Box, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Multitasking: experience supporting multiple priorities and juggling a variety of tasks for one or more individuals
