About the Position

Do you love helping other people get organized, set and stick to smart work plans, and navigate complicated, competing priorities? Are you oriented towards problem solving and finding a smart path forward? Do you care about helping immigrants, communities of color, low-wage workers and others win tangible improvements in their lives?

We’re seeking a full-time Affiliate Coordinator who will work to organize and streamline our support to our partner organizations.  This position will work closely with a range of individuals within and outside of the organization to coordinate communications, build relationships, and facilitate joint action across our partner network and among our array of staff teams. Strong writing skills, professionalism and confidentiality are crucial to this role.

This position will report to a member of CPD’s Organizing and Capacity Building team. We offer a generous salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience.

The Center for Popular Democracy promotes equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We currently work with 53 partner organizations in 34 states as well as Puerto Rico and D.C. to build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations to envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. Primary Responsibilities

The Affiliate Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will include:

  • Building strong relationships with partner staff through outreach and support, and working to facilitate effective relationship management with each of CPD’s partner organizations

  • Tracking, organizing, and streamlining communications and interactions by CPD staff with partners to facilitate effective relationship management with each of CPD’s partner organizations, using CPD’s database infrastructure and other tools

  • Working to coordinate staff and partners’ participation in opportunities for shared learning and action, including in-person convenings and trainings, virtual gatherings, and mobilizations

  • Coordinating staff within the Organizing and Capacity Building team and the senior management of the organization to support high-quality engagement and support for all CPD partners

  • Coordinating CPD support to partner organizations and partner organizations’ leadership and engagement with shared learning and action opportunities, in order to create high-value connections and deeper alignment throughout the network

The ideal candidate for this role:

  • Has a demonstrated commitment to social and racial justice issues and understanding of challenges facing immigrant communities, communities of color, and low-and moderate income people

  • Brings a deep desire to support our partner organizations:  empathy, resilience, friendliness, and good judgement

  • Has experience building relationships across departments, teams or coalitions, conducting mobilization, and tracking data in support of progressive organizing efforts

  • Thrives in a fast-paced office environment and can manage a high volume of work efficiently without sacrificing quality

  • Is known for being highly organized, with strong attention to detail – always triple-checks their work

  • Maintains deep alignment with CPD’s theory of change, which focuses on building strong people’s institutions

  • Has excellent problem-solving skills and a strong sense of ownership over tasks, including follow-through, and is willing to do what it takes to get the job done – able to effectively plan and prioritize when faced with competing deadlines

  • Has appetite and aptitude to learn more about Excel, Salesforce, and tracking data

  • Is willing to have moderate travel schedule

Bonus qualifications, not required:

  • Experience with Salesforce and Basecamp
