Financial Reporting Analyst

Position Purpose:

The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta strengthens its region by providing quality services to donors and innovative leadership on community issues.  Reporting to the Director, Finance and Accounting, the Financial Reporting Analyst will be responsible for the collection, analysis and reporting of accounting data from the accounting data system in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Essential functions of position:

• Utilize Excel, Access, and other tools to develop process improvement solutions, workflows, queries, dashboards, and analytical reports to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes.
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes through data collection and analysis, including, but not limited to, ledger consolidation, financial statement preparation and variance commentary for internal and external stakeholders
• Build and manage complex data consolidation models to support budgeting and forecasting processes across multiple departments and entities
• Ensure all financial reports are presented in accordance with GAAP
• Support the timely and accurate completion of the annual audit and tax filings
• Maintain accounting ledgers and subledgers, including supporting the reconciliation of the gift and grant subledger and balance sheet accounts
• Support and back up other accounting functions as needed,
• Create and maintain documented policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills:

• Ability to compile data from an accounting database system to prepare detailed financial reports, calculate figures and amounts, analyze statistical and financial information.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access, and the ability to effectively utilize accounting software.
• Excellent ability to organize and prioritize daily work and multiple requests/assignments while managing long-term strategic projects.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills (listening, interpersonal, oral, and written).
• Proficient writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to gather and organize information appropriately
• A high degree of professionalism, confidence and flexibility that allows the incumbent to work collaboratively and effectively with stakeholders and colleagues of diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship with the Foundation staff, donors, and nonprofit partners.

Experience:

• 5+ years of accounting analysis and financial reporting experience.

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

CPA preferred.
