JOB SUMMARY

The Corporate Relations & Foundations Manager is responsible for generating an established annual fundraising goal for corporations and foundations (including gifts from clubs and organizations) and United Way.  This position manages all aspects of corporate, foundation and United Way relations, and reports to the Chief Development Officer.  The position manages the Development Associate and must work closely and cooperatively with Fund Development and Council staff.  The Corporate Relations & Foundations Manager is responsible for the identification and qualification of prospects and working with the Fund Development team to obtain the appropriate prospect research, development of cultivation, stewardship and solicitation strategies and the production of proposals, site visits, presentations and reports.  They will serve as a liaison between corporate, foundation and United Way donors and the Chief Development Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Board of Directors, donors and other staff, as appropriate.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manage pipeline and actively solicit established and new corporate and foundation (including clubs and organizations) and United Way donors.  
  • Manage a robust portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects for qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Coordinate visits with funders and potential funders and assemble background information in preparation for visits.
  • Work collaboratively with the Fund Development & Events Coordinator and Major Gifts & Planned Giving Manager on the successful implementation and creation of collateral for the Second Century Breakfast and other fundraising events including Cookies & Corks.
  • Actively work with Board Members and volunteer committees including the Second Century Breakfast Event Committee and Fund Development Committee on sponsorships, grants and cultivation of donors.
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of United Way granting agencies.  This will require periodic travel throughout the Council’s 34 county service area.
  • Coordinate Council staff and volunteer participation in the preparation of agendas and presentation materials for presentations and site visits for United Ways.
  • Work with Council leadership and staff to identify funding needs of the Council and/or programs of interest to foundation and corporate gift prospects.
  • Identify new foundation and corporate sources of funding.
  • Serve as liaison between funders and appropriate Council leadership, volunteers and staff.
  • Maintain detailed tracking and regular reporting on the various stages of solicitation, projecting closure rates, funding amounts and dates and keeping data in Raiser’s Edge current and up to date.
  • Work with appropriate Fund Development and Council program staff to coordinate database and calendar, to monitor deadlines for proposals and reports, grants denied and awarded, disbursements made and provide analysis of information.
  • In conjunction with the Development Associate and appropriate Council staff, write and edit grant proposals, including developing proposal budgets and budget narratives and writing interim and final reports and developing presentations.
  • Communicate summaries of results to appropriate Council leadership and staff and manage and provide recommendations for future applications with respect to the specific grantee and/or program.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate Fund Development and Finance staff regarding the proper coding and stewardship of restricted gifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist the Council in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years in fund raising or related experience.
  • Successful direct fund-raising experience with corporations, foundations and United Way.
  • Experience implementing and managing events.
  • Must have prior experience securing significant financial support and motivating others to participate in fund raising activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve divisional goals and objectives.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work effectively in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the Girl Scouts.
  • Demonstrate a positive and determined disposition.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels of the community, corporations, foundations and United Ways.
  • Solid, proven business writing, proof reading and oral presentation skills.
  • Travel within 34 county Council service area and periodic night and weekend work required.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, budgeting and report preparation. Strong organization and task and project management skills.
  • Must complete & clear a MVR, & Criminal background check.

COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS:

Requires strong computer and internet research skills including: 

  • Expertise with MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires the physical mobility to sit, walk or stand for moderate periods of time and to frequently carry or lift objects weighing up to twenty pounds.
