JOB DESCRIPTION FOR AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

OF THE INTERFAITH CHILDREN’S MOVEMENT

Brief description of ICM

The Interfaith Children’s Movement, Inc. (ICM) was established in 2001 as an organization intended to bring together people of all faiths, as well as faith communities themselves, to promote, advocate for and nurture the interests of all children in Georgia.  ICM’s efforts have resulted in major systemic change in legislation, policies, programs, and services that have benefited tens of thousands of Georgia’s children.  More information about ICM’s mission, functions and organization may be found at www.icmgeorgia.org

Qualifications: The following describe backgrounds and attributes particularly sought in the ICM Executive Director:

  1. Possess a passion for advocating for and furthering the interests of children.
  2. Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor relations in the nonprofit context.
  3. Record in leading organizations in times of transition.
  4. Demonstrated organizational abilities including planning, program development, delegation, and enabling teams of volunteers, staff and board to become more effective.
  5. Experience in or openness for cultivating interfaith activities.
  6. Possess no less than a bachelor’s degree.
  7. Possess computer technology skills; demonstrated strong written and oral communications skills.

Priorities for executive director:

Funding and Programs

  • Direct ICM fundraising committees while actively developing funding opportunities from individuals, donors, faith communities, and foundations that align with ICM’s mission and capacity.
  • Ensure that ICM fulfills its responsibilities with the programs and reporting requirements of its funding grants.
  • Support ICM committees in developing and enacting their initiatives.
  • If not the responsibility of a committee chair, lead in the development of ICM events (e.g., General Meetings, Day at the Capitol, trainings, etc.).
  • Represent ICM in collaborative efforts with its partner organizations and on select committees/commissions that are relevant to ICM’s mission.

Employment details:

ICM has a physical office on the campus of the Interdenominational Theological Center, but the executive director can also perform a significant amount of administrative work in a home office.  Programmatic and fundraising work will likely necessitate car travel in metro-Atlanta and perhaps occasionally in other parts of Georgia.  The costs of authorized travel will be reimbursed by ICM according to terms to be established in a formal employment agreement.

The salary to be paid by ICM will be determined commensurate with experience and other qualifications.

The starting date for this position is spring 2019.

Application process

Applicants for ICM’s Executive Director position should send a cover letter (that expresses interest in the position) and a CV to:   info@ICMGeorgia.org   . Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to provide the names of references to be contacted.
