ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Quality Care for Children is an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization with a 40-year history of ensuring Georgia’s infants and young children are nurtured and educated. We ensure children reach their full potential by helping:

  • Child care programs increase quality by providing nutritious meals and educational care to young children so they are ready for success in school and beyond; and
  • Parents access quality child care so they can attend college or succeed in the workplace.

Quality Care for Children (QCC) maintains an operating budget of more than $15M with approximately 10% being generated by corporate, foundation and individual donations and sponsorships. The organization hosts one primary fundraising event each spring called, “The Early Start Breakfast”.

POSITION TITLE AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Director of Marketing works within a team of four and reports to the Vice President of Development and Marketing.

CORE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Marketing must have the ability to think strategically and act tactically to develop, analyze, manage and execute all marketing and communications functions of Quality Care for Children, and to work with staff across all departments.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements strategic marketing plans for the organization and each of its programs in concert with the VP, Development & Marketing and program staff.
  • Manages the creation and implementation of an organization-wide communications plan.
  • Designs and manages email communications using the MailChimp platform for programs, events, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Designs and works with external design resources (crowdsourcing, graphic designers, etc.) to create marketing materials for programs, events, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Manages organization’s website (Squarespace platform).
  • Manages organization’s social media platforms.
  • Assists with the writing of thought leadership articles and reports.
  • Provides regular marketing and PR updates to the board.
  • Works with the Development and Marketing team to plan and manage all fundraising and special events for the organization.
  • Assists in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of corporations as part of the organization’s corporate partnership program.
  • Helps develop and manage corporate engagement opportunities (volunteer events, presentations, etc.).
  • Stays informed and educated about the latest trends in marketing and help evolve and improve Quality Care for Children’s programs.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS AND CORPORATE CULTURE

The ideal candidate will come to this position with strong leadership and interpersonal skills, a proven background in successful marketing and communications, and an understanding and passion for the mission of Quality Care for Children.

Individual characteristics include:

  • Five years of proven marketing and community relations experience; salary will be commensurate with experience
  • Energetic self-starter with a passion for the mission of QCC and a desire to become a part of a stable and growing organization
  • Ease and excitement about working closely with a small team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills
  • Creative mindset with an ability to develop innovative yet practical opportunities for donor engagement with the organization
  • Proven track record of initiating, cultivating, and managing relationships with key stakeholders
  • Demonstration of a broad range of communications and project management skills
  • Willingness to engage, learn and grow continuously
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in professional design software preferred (especially Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Working knowledge of HTML and web design best-practices
  • Highly organized with effective time management skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • A proven understanding of marketing trends within the nonprofit sector as well as knowledge of existing networks for sharing ideas and best practices in the field

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Occasional driving
  • Consistently standing for 2 hours or more
  • Sitting at the computer for 3 hours or more at a time
  • Bending, frequent use of hands, stooping and moderate lifting (at least 25 pounds) required
  • Noise level in the work environment may be high at times
