The Company

The Center for Family Resources is a nonprofit organization working to stabilize and empower families so they may become self-sufficient.  The Center is a Cobb county, Georgia based organization working exclusively to serve local families and individuals who are either homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.  The Center for Family Resources offers the following services:

·Financial assistance to help stabilize families in their current housing ·Multiple short-term housing programs for homeless families ·Life skills classes on topics such as budgeting, parenting, and identifying toxic relationships ·A job lab to assist with career searching, resume writing, and interview coaching ·GED prep program providing one-on-one coaching and group classes ·An on-site food pantry with fresh produce and breads, a wide variety of canned goods, and other essentials like diapers, infant formula, and personal hygiene items ·Local mobile food distribution events for pre-registered clients in specified neighborhoods ·Employee Assistance Program management for local companies

MISSION

We are on a mission to ensure once our clients leave our program, they will have all the necessary skills, tools, and resources to be self-sufficient enough to never again need us, or any organization like us. 

Responsibilities

The CEO provides direction to the organization on all matters of policy and operations, and serves as its chief spokesperson on pertinent issues facing families in the county. The CEO manages the finance, development and human resources functions of the Center for Family Resources.  He or she is also responsible for the planning and execution of strategic initiatives and programs to ensure consistency and coherence with the agenda of the organization. Working with the Board of Directors, these responsibilities also include initiatives that involve the inclusion and coordination of staff, as well as business and leadership at the local and state level.  Under the direction of the CEO, the organization will provide continuous refinement and execution of its strategic plan to meet the changing demands of the region.

Strategy, Vision, Leadership

  • Develop and implement a long-range strategic plan for the Center for Family Resources.
  • Facilitate and drive the development and successful implementation of the organization’s vision, as well as strategic and operational plans.
  • Develop a balanced budget annually which is aligned to the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Participate in annual campaigns and in developing new sources of revenue, specifically: identifying new revenue opportunities, working with individuals, corporations, foundations, major donors, campaigns, grants as well as government funders, drafting prospective programmatic budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery.
  • Develop a stewardship culture and the necessary processes to control costs and ensure stakeholder funds are spent with the appropriate level of financial oversight. 
  • Identify priority issues and concerns facing families in Cobb County and serve as an activist before relevant federal, state, and local government and civic bodies to achieve desired outcomes and advance programs.
  • Serve as a principal spokesperson for the Center for Family Resources, with a goal to enhance the overall understanding of the plight of the homeless and enlist support.
  • Provide leadership and support to the Board of Directors, communicating all information necessary for the board to function well and make informed decisions; seek and build board involvement in resource development, providing oversight and setting the strategic direction for the organization. 
  • Successfully market the programs and services of the Center for Family Resources. Increase utilization and revenue of the Mansour Conference center.
  • Maintain organizational visibility in the community by being active and involved in relevant professional, civic, and business organizations in the community, region, and state.

 

Relationship Building

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members of the Board of Directors, county, municipal, state and federal elected officials and key leaders in the community.
  • Nurture the existing strong community partnerships with the Marietta/Cobb Continuum of Care, Cobb Collaborative, Cobb Community Foundation, United Way, Atlanta Community Food Bank, Atlanta Legal Aid Society and Atlanta Women’s Foundation, etc. 
  • Build consensus across diverse regional entities.  Convene meetings and build coalitions of regional and state organizations that share challenges and/or common goals. 
  • Represent the Center for Family Resources at appropriate civic, cultural, charitable, business, and community activities.
  • Serve on boards, commissions, committees and organizations, which align with the mission/purpose as the Center for Family Resources.  Attend key regional events as a representative of the organization.

Team Development / Leadership

  • Hire competent staff members and ensure they receive timely and appropriate training and development.
  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the staff.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.
  • Manage and drive a highly effective and efficient organization as measured by achievement of priority goals and growth. 

Professional Qualifications

  • A history of successful engagement, partnering and consensus building with a broad range of constituencies and cultures.
  • Experience with strategic planning and working in close collaboration with a volunteer Board of Directors is necessary.
  • Experience in human or social services and / or a related field; experience with development and implementation of a marketing strategy for an organization and demonstrated understanding and knowledge of how businesses assess development / expansion opportunities and deploy capital.
  • Political savvy.  An understanding of federal, state, and local governments, including a working knowledge of government affairs / lobbying, position development, and the advancement of an agenda through the legislative process.  Knowledge of the regional political environment is a positive; however, the ability to cultivate key local stakeholder relationships quickly is a key.
  • An out-of-the box thinker with the ability to listen and assess needs, generate and promote innovative products and services to enhance the value of the organization. 
  • Ability to identify opportunities to increase revenue and make it happen.  Successful history of fundraising for nonprofit entities.  
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, financial reports, governmental regulations, and legal documents.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication to move the agenda of the Center for Family Resources forward.

Education

A minimum of an undergraduate degree in Nonprofit/Government Administration or equivalent field is essential, with an MBA considered a definite positive.

Compensation

A competitive compensation package will be made available to the qualified candidate.

LOCATION

Prefer the successful candidate reside in Cobb County.

OTHER

The Center for Family Resources currently supports 25 employees and an annual operating budget of $3.5M.
