NCRC is seeking talented candidate with a passion for social and economic justice with 2-3 years grant writing experience and proven record of raising funds from corporations, foundations and government sources. Must have robust written and oral communication skills. Must possess strong computer & social media literacy. Proven project management experience essential as is the ability to work in a team setting. Demonstrated success in donor management and engagement. Compensation commensurate with experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Development Associate is responsible for fundraising activities that further the organization’s mission. This position supports the Director of Development with fundraising activities, grant research, and database management. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Government Grants: Assist Director in researching, identifying and preparing government grant proposals annually utilizing grants.gov and other tools. Responsible for editing, preparing and reviewing grant requests for submission.

2. Foundation/Corporate grants: Assist Director in researching, identifying and preparing foundation grant opportunities that are aligned with NCRC’s mission and objectives. Responsible for editing, preparing and reviewing grant requests for submission. 

3. CRM Database Management: Responsible for maintaining development records of proposals submitted and grants awarded, including reports. Maintain calendar of reports due dates. Ensure that the Finance Department and General Counsel receive copies of all pertinent documents. 

4. Donor Communication: Assist DOD in creating donor thank you letters, annual reports, newsletters, event materials, and social media marketing.

5. Project Management: Update & provide SET with monthly fundraising reports containing data of current funders, the breakdown of support by program and activities and additional pertinent information. Support NCRC program staff by setting up project timelines and responsibilities to ensure timely submission of grants and reports. In conjunction with DOD, review, edit and revise program narratives/reports and ensure that all deadlines are met. Support program staff by supplying organizational, financial and governance materials for grants and reports.

6. Annual Conference: Assist DOD by developing sponsorship meeting agendas for solicitation calls, compile lists of current sponsors and new prospects, prepare letters soliciting conference support, maintain records, and finalize conference sponsor package brochure and follow-up with donors after event. During conference assist with registration, workshops, receptions and sponsor engagement.

7. Development Office Administration: Assist in general office administration and ensure that operations are in compliance with all NCRC policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Policy, or related field preferred. Relevant experience in lieu of formal education accepted.
• 2-3 years fundraising experience and an interest/commitment to housing and community development. 
• Excellent written communication, research, and organizational skills. 
• Attention to detail. 
• Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills 
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

Communication: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Includes activities in which incumbent must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately or quickly.
Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to discern the differences in sound.
Repetitive motion: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers to operate office machinery (computer, phone, copier, etc.)
Sedentary work: Negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves remaining stationary most of the time. (50% or more)
Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer screen and extensive reading.
