SUMMARY

The Marketing & Communications Manager works with the Director and Associate Director of Marketing & Communications to develop and implement all marketing activities for The Atlanta Opera.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support for marketing activities including subscription and single ticket sales campaigns, advertising, telemarketing, special promotions, direct mail and audience development campaigns
  • Lead the Atlanta Opera’s retail operation, ShopOpera, including coordinating and training volunteers, buying and pricing merchandise and reconciling sales with the finance department to generate revenue
  • With Associate Director, develop digital content and marketing strategy for The Atlanta Opera, including social media, website, email marketing, and other digital outlets
  • Manage and market patron experience events like Young Professionals Opera’s Night Out
  • Work with Tessitura database on reports, research and list pulls
  • Compile and/or write copy, create editorial calendar, and supervise the proofing process for the ARIA, the Atlanta Opera’s production program.
  • Help manage budget by processing quotes and invoices, and managing costs associated with marketing programs
  • Write press releases, emails, and other opera communication as needed
  • Support marketing team responsibilities during performances as assigned by Front of House manager.

COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent written and oral communication, and problem-solving skills
  • 2-4 years in communications, PR, or marketing, with ad buying/media placement experience
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of opera/classical music a plus
  • Collaborative team player

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Wordfly or other email marketing service
  • Experience using Tessitura a plus
  • Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner
  • Position requires evening and weekend obligations during the opera season
