$6,946 - $8,443/Month

The Contra Costa Health Services Department is currently looking to fill one vacancy for a Substance Abuse Program Manager. This vacancy may be responsible for one or more of the following programs: Discovery House, Outpatient & Residential Programs, Methadone Services, Prenatal Services, Special Populations, Federal and State Grant Programs, and active involvement in the development of an integrated Substance Use Disorder system of care, including support to the integration of Alcohol and Other Drug Administration under the Behavioral Health Division. Successful candidates will have a background in Federal and State standards and regulations of Substance Use Disorder programs, grant writing and evaluation.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record demonstrating the following:

  • Ability to formulate goals and implement procedures to meet program objectives
  • Ability to organize and/or conduct staff training activities and supervise subordinate staff
  • Knowledge of work organization and planning, including fundamental budget preparation and fiscal accountability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt easily to varied and changing priorities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Minimum qualifications include possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, sociology, counseling, public administration or a closely related field, and 5 years of full-time or its equivalent experience in the substance abuse field providing program administration, 2 years of which must have been in a lead, supervisory or administrative capacity. Candidates must possess a valid California motor vehicle operator's license. Out-of-state valid motor vehicle operator's license will accepted during the application process.

Substitution for Experience: Possession of a Master's degree with a major in one of the aforementioned areas may be substituted for 1 year of the required non-supervisory experience.
