Job Title: Early Head Start Curriculum Manager             

Department: Child Care Resource and Referral

Salary: Based on experience – Salaried, Exempt

Position Summary: The Early Head Start Curriculum Manager will provide coordination and direction for all the EHS-CCP centers in the area of curriculum implementation for infants and toddlers. He/She will function as a resource and coach for Curriculum Specialists.  He/She will provide guidance and monitor Coaching and ensure children’s records are up-to-date; review and analyze data on child outcomes to ensure the effective integration and interdisciplinary work of all aspects of the program.  He/she will work as a member of the EHS CCP team in a cross-discipline approach to assure that all children and their families receive high quality, comprehensive services that meet their needs.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Provides reflective supervision, technical assistance, coaching, and mentoring for the Curriculum Specialists to ensure the implementation of the education program reflects Creative Curriculum and the philosophy of EHS-CCP and Quality Care for Children.
  2. Conducts data review meetings with teaching teams and develop plans for use of data.
  3. Analyze data and prepares reports.
  4. Ensures all assigned program reports are completed and submitted on a timely basis.
  5. Coordinates evaluations and outcomes assessments with the Curriculum Specialists, and coordinates feedback back to the teaching teams.
  6. Ensures all mandates of Head Start performance standards, State and local licensing are met.
  7. Ensures all confidential information is protected.
  8. Participates in recruitment efforts of program to help maintain full program enrollment.
  9. Guides Curriculum Specialists to identify and achieve professional development goals.
  10. In conjunction with Curriculum Specialists, ensure Child files reviews are held and monitor follow-up process.
  11. Provide supervision of Curriculum Specialists.
  12. Supports Curriculum Specialists in classrooms observations using classroom observation forms, monthly focus checklists, NAEYC, ITERS, and other related curriculum observation checklists.
  13. Assists Curriculum Specialists in self-evaluation and goal setting; follow up on previous goals.
  14. Meets regularly as part of the management and Hub team to share concerns and progress.
  15. Participates in EHS-CCP School Readiness Goals quarterly meetings.
  16. Conducts Curriculum Specialists meetings at least twice a month.
  17. Assists Center Director in conducting new teacher orientation.
  18. Ensures that QCC resource and supply areas are organized and orderly.
  19. Provides TA in ordering age appropriate materials.
  20. Provides on- site staff training for Curriculum Specialists, teachers, and parents in addition to assist with Hub training.
  21. Trains Curriculum Specialists in the use of the Teaching Strategies Gold developmental assessment data entry.
  22. Monitors that observations are entered into TSG and checkpoints are completed by the due date.
  23. Meets regularly with the QCC and center specialists to plan support, training, coaching, and interventions with the teaching staff to facilitate child outcomes
  24. Participates in staff and parent meetings as needed.
  25. Maintains a commitment to professionalism by staying informed on current research and best practice as it relates to infant and toddler care and education.
  26. Accept other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in early childhood education
  • Minimum of four years of experience supervising in an early childhood setting with experience working with infants and toddlers
  • Experience working with a Head Start or Early Head Start program preferred
  • PITC or other infant/toddler professional development
  • Coaching or PLC training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative partnerships and work on a team
  • Demonstrated track record working and supporting the needs of low-income families and young children
  • Must have knowledge and experience in areas that include theories and principles of child development
  • Have an understanding and knowledge of the Child Care Center standards, Head Start Program Performance Standards and regulations, teaching strategies, and components of a high quality early learning environment.
  • Knowledge of community-based social service organizations and agencies
  • Ability to interact effectively with Center staff, parents, children, staff, and the public in a multi-ethnic environment
  • Must be comfortable working with diverse ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds of the communities and must be able to effectively communicate with children and families of the community
  • Possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License and have access to an insured motor vehicle
  • Must be willing to work outside of traditional work hours (evenings/weekends)
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and sit on the floor and interact with children
  • Training, education or experience may be substituted for certain minimum qualifications
