Job Details
Reports to: Program Manager
Location: San Diego, CA
FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-time
Effective Date: February 2019
General Purpose of the Job: Provide holistic, strengths-based, trauma-informed, integrated mental health and social services to students and families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (The examples of functions are not necessarily exhaustive. Management is not precluded from assigning other related functions not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment for the position.)
- Provide and coordinate in-school mental health services to refugee students and/or their families who are victims of torture and/or severe trauma in trauma-informed settings
- Provide individual and small group therapy
- Collect signed informed consents from all parents or guardians of students who receive mental health services, and coordinate with school staff to obtain required documents, as needed
- Coordinate clinical case management services for students and their families as requested
- Coordinate with professional interpreters to provide services in the students’ and families’ preferred languages
- Assist with developing and administering a brief survey to assess student improvement in trauma recovery and in social/emotional health
- Prepare and submit required reports to evaluate project outcomes
- Conduct professional development trainings for district staff and educators
- Identify critical client care issues for clinical meetings and supervision
- Complete biopsychosocial assessments and create treatment plans
- Complete progress notes and document client services in ETO (electronic medical record) database ensuring that data is complete, accurate, and contract-compliant
- Review client charts to ensure compliance with established protocols
- Screen client referrals per eligibility criteria
- Participate in all-agency functions including development outreach and events, as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to the mission of Survivors of Torture, International
- Mental health licensure required: LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC; additional PPS credential preferred
- Possess excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills
- Must have reliable car, valid California driver’s license and adequate auto insurance
- Experience and competence working with diverse populations including students, youth and families, and languages
- Fluency with one or more language other than English preferred
- Flexibility to co-locate; including travel between school sites and SURVIVORS’ primary office
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and databases
