Development Manager

The Development Manager leads fundraising efforts at Carnation Farms. S/he will cultivate and secure financial support and steward relationships with individual donors, corporations, vendors, volunteers, and other sponsors. This will include establishing and advancing a membership program, managing a database of stakeholders and gifts, and coordinating events for potential donors. S/he will work in collaboration with marketing staff to increase awareness of Carnation Farms’ mission, strategic initiatives, and results.

Reports To: Director of Strategy and Sales

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and manage annual fundraising plans and targets, track progress to achievement
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual donors and sponsors
• Stay abreast of relevant fundraising opportunities and determine whether to pursue
• Apply for grants when relevant to the larger fundraising strategy
• Build and maintain relationships with like-minded organizations and foundations

• Manage a database of donors, event attendees, and potential donors
• Create and maintain efficient systems for data entry, gift processing, prospect research, relationship management and data health
• Build and execute a membership program
• Work in partnership with Marketing staff and the Culinary and Hospitality team to coordinate events for potential donors
• Help marketing staff reach potential donors with communication materials
• Ensure a superior guest experience at events, including the smooth execution of all fundraising components and delivery and of donor/sponsor benefits
• Survey and thank attendees, volunteers, donors, and sponsors quickly and sincerely after each event, provide them with “results” in a timely way
• Lead the successful conversion of event attendees, members, and volunteers into donors and champions for Carnation Farms
• Provide excellent customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of sponsors, donors, and members
• Participate in farm activities and events when strategic for fundraising purposes
• Perform other duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal Skills, Experience and Education

• 5+ years of successful fundraising experience required
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working with a fundraising database such as Raisers Edge
• Excellent communication, public speaking, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
• High degree of integrity, ethics, and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality
• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills

• Excellent writing skills
• Fluent computer skills – emails, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations
