DATA ADMINISTRATOR

We’re looking for someone to join a great team of smart, fun and committed data nerds and administrators whose full-time job is to make the world a better place. You might be a good fit if you find satisfaction in tasks that have right answers or wrong answers; if you like impossible puzzles; if you agree that quality means doing things right when no one is looking.

The Public Interest Network is looking for a Data Administrator to join our team. The Public Interest Network is a group of organizations committed to a cutting-edge vision of a better world, a set of core values, and a strategic approach to change. We work on issues, such as the environment and consumer protection, that highlight the need for a reassessment of our economic values and a new politics. As the Data Administrator you’ll work to enhance and improve data on close to 10 million supporters for 100 different social change organizations.

As a network working to win on some of the most important issues of our time, it’s critical that we keep track of the people who support us. The Membership Services and Data team is the driving force behind that effort for the Public Interest Network. We ensure that supporter information is as up to date and accurate as possible. We provide easy access to our groups and departments so they can use that data to build power. We generate reporting and insights to drive improvements in our overall work with members.

If we do everything right, no one notices us. If we make any mistakes, everyone notices us. We take great pride in getting things done right and quickly.

The Data Administrator is responsible for managing a team of people to perform 5 key functions:

  1. List Quality – any data analyst will tell you that a big part of working with data is keeping the data clean. People don’t respond to you if you can’t get their name right. Reports don’t make sense if the data is messy. We spend a lot of time ensuring our data is as up to date and accurate as possible.
  2. Cashiering – every year we process tens of thousands of fundraising returns and deposit over $1 million.
  3. Data Entry – getting new information updated quickly and accurately is essential to our success as a network.
  4. Help Desk – helping our fundraisers and campaigners make good use of the supporter data and tracking their work in the member database is important to keeping the data as up to date and accurate as possible.
  5. Report Administration – In addition to making sure we have great lists to use for our political and fundraising work, we also use our data to provide essential insights to movement leadership.

Qualifications:

Candidates should be highly detail oriented and good at working with people. Candidates must have excellent judgment and discretion and the ability to oversee significant projects. The ideal candidate has a track record of setting up and working with administrative systems. Fast and accurate typing, experience with databases and data tools including SQL, Access, Excel, and Python are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

Target annual compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience and/or advanced degrees that a candidate has. We value experience with data systems and campaigns. We offer a competitive benefits package.
