Job Details
Summary:
The HelpLine Operator is responsible for all aspects of communication and data entry related to NAMI Georgia’s non-emergency Resources/HelpLine. The HelpLine Operator will answer and respond to callers requesting information about topics such as mental health services, housing, legal issues, and support groups. The HelpLine Operator will also respond to resource-related emails, maintain a database with caller information, and research and organize information related to resources in Georgia.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including phone etiquette and attentive listening
- Capacity to respond calmly to callers who may be experiencing emotional distress
- Understanding of or willingness/ability to research mental health services, housing resources, NAMI information
- Cultural competency and ability to foster inclusion and acceptance
- Ability to organize and utilize NAMI Georgia website and “Community Resources” page
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word, general Internet searches
- Four-year degree preferred
- CPS (Certified Peer Specialist) preferred
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
- Understanding of Georgia’s mental health system
- Familiarity with NAMI and NAMI programs
- Understanding of mental health conditions, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases
- Background in social work, human services, psychology, and/or related fields
- Experience working with individuals with a mental health condition
- Experience working with non-profit organizations
