Reports to:
CYA-MHAT Manager

Status: Full-time, Exempt, Evenings and Weekend work required

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Program Manager acquires and ensures compliance with funding sources and regulatory requirements, manages and oversees general office and program activities and builds up organizational effectiveness in the NAMI GA office. Recruits, hires, provides effective leadership to staff and volunteers and develops office and personnel policies and procedures. Develops and conducts presentations for local and regional meetings and events on Behavioral Health and Mental Illness as it relates to adults and youth. Coordinates presentations with NAMI Leaders and other presenters as scheduled.  Works with affiliates to ensure growth of programs throughout the state.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage office activities to build up organizational effectiveness and facilitate sustainable progress towards achieving the NAMI GA mission priorities as set by the Board
  • Maintain a consistent presence in the NAMI GA office from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
  • Recruit, hire and provide effective leadership to NAMI GA staff and volunteers
  • Responsible for hiring, evaluation development, and when necessary, termination of staff
  • Assure good staff development practices are implemented including, but not limited to, annual reviews.
  • Develop program policies and procedures
  • Make use of modern technologies, including the internet, to facilitate communications, services and programs within the organization and to affiliates and community stakeholders
  • Oversee maintenance of official records, policies and documents, and ensure compliance with contract terms, federal, state and local regulations, and nonprofit best practices
  • Ensure compliance with funding sources (grants) and regulatory requirements
  • Create systems and oversee data for grant reporting to funders
  • Oversee maintenance familiarity of federal, state, and county grant requirements
  • Develop Implementation of robust contract management and financial management reporting system
  • Ensure that contract billing is accurate and reported on time
  • Oversee coordination of classes with affiliates and NAMI National
  • Ensure program leader’s trainings, growth, and development statewide
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of program emails monthly, 15th
  • Oversee coordinate of weekly training schedules, where applicable
  • Oversee coordinate of NAMI hosts, where applicable
  • Responsible for programs at the Annual Convention
  • Assist in the recruitment of additional teachers, trainers, presenters, Advocate Coordinators, family and consumer perspective presenters
  • Assist with program development and work in collaboration with community providers and advocates
  • Monitor state, county, and local issues that may affect community crisis services
  • Serve as a backup contact for NAMI Signature programs, youth in crisis programs, other classes and development
  • Oversee develop and implement new programs

Program, Product and Service Delivery

  • Execute the plans, initiatives, and policies
  • Oversee programs, services, and activities to ensure that policies, plans and program objectives are met within the approved budget
  • Provide direction for development of existing support groups, education and outreach efforts, and information resources
  • Respond to communications and requests in a timely manner

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • Proven success in grant management
  • Proven success at managing and growing a project that involved fundraising, publicity, staff management, and maintenance of long-term volunteer and sponsor relationships
  • Proven general organizational and leadership skills
  • Good judgment and flexibility
  • Must have leadership experience
  • Experience and comfort with office software: Word, Excel, Gmail/Google Drive, online newsletters, and email. Test at 90% software knowledge
  • Ability to travel occasionally and work weekends

Education and Experience

Preferred:

  • 4 Year degree or 5 years of non-profit management
  • Experience in Program development management
  • Management or supervisory experience
  • Nonprofit experience – working with a board, staff and volunteers, etc.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Lift up to 25 pounds.
  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
