The Law Firm and Corporate Gifts Manager advances the Council’s mission by working with current law firm and corporate partners and cultivating prospective and new partners into donors. The Manager is responsible for raising gifts from law firms and corporations. The position identifies targets within the organization’s current constituent pool and helps identify new targets outside the pool. The Manager fine tunes and/or creates processes to streamline and improve effectiveness of cultivation and stewardship activities, engaging key staff and board members, in order to meet organizational sustainability benchmarks. The Manager works with other Development staff, Immigration Justice Campaign staff, and programmatic staff who are seeking funding to coordinate efforts.  

Essential job functions of this role include:

Manages Portfolio 

  • Manages a portfolio of law firms and corporations to preserve or secure new gifts to generate a minimum of 25% of the Development Department’s budget and a minimum of 15% of the Immigration Justice Campaign’s budget.  
  • Uses customer relationship management (CRM) software and other platforms to coordinate, track and report cultivation and stewardship efforts, including tracking information to accurately calculate return on investment (ROI). 
  • Manages the Development Assistant to track and report progress to goals.  

Identifies Targets 

  • Develops donor prospectus/profiles by conducting searches within the organization’s CRM software and other data to identify potential targets to cultivate. 
  • Works with Board and staff to identify potential targets outside of the organization’s CRM database. 

Creates Process 

  • Works with Director of Development to establish and execute policies and procedures for researching, prospecting, cultivating and stewarding law firm and corporation gifts. 
  • Creates protocols for coordinating city-based events in conjunction with other Council activities to leverage donor profile information to increase engagement and giving. 
  • Works with Director of Development to assess ROI and make adjustments to improve ROI. 
  • Identifies and executes tactics that encourage key staff and Board to participate in acquiring gifts.   

CultivatesSolicits and Stewards Donors 

  • Creates individual cultivation plans that identify the prospective donor’s motivations and values and how they connect with that of the Council.  
  • Ensures that enough asks are made at the appropriate level (using Board members and key staff) to meet monthly and annual goals. 
  • Creates memorable stewardship plans that show appreciation, further solidify the donor’s relationship with the organization and leads to additional support. 

Other: 

  • Works with other development and programmatic staff who are engaging in fundraising activities to ensure coordination of cultivation, asks and stewardship activities. 
  • Contributes to the general needs of the department to ensure all fundraising goals are met. 
  • Keeps the Director of Development, Executive Director, Board and staff informed and identifies ways to keep them engaged in our culture of philanthropy. 
  • Develops an understanding of the organization’s specific projects and endeavors and articulates the need for support.
