Teaching Trust seeks a full-time Director of Communications and Marketing to lead all brand awareness building initiatives. This position reports to the Chief External Officer and starts in July 2019.

 

What You’ll Take On

 

The Director of Communications and Marketing will harness Teaching Trust’s story to formulate an external communications strategy that strengthens awareness of the importance of investment in leadership development to transform public education. You will solidify the organization’s brand identity, cultivate relationships with members of the media, and develop marketing and communications tools to turn our staff into even stronger Teaching Trust ambassadors.

 

The Director of Communications and Marketing will provide strategic direction and support for all efforts strengthening external visibility for Teaching Trust including (but not limited to):

• Operating at various levels and with diverse partners, and managing many projects ranging from strategic planning to drafting blog posts to bringing stakeholders together to review design

• Developing organizational “core messages” and craft a toolkit to build staff member skillset as ambassadors for the organization

• Leveraging opportunities to showcase Teaching Trust impact in leadership development landscape in Texas and on a national stage

• Developing earned media strategies, including maintaining relationships with members of the press, fielding press inquiries, and training organizational spokespeople

• Serving as executive editor of the organization’s website and social media presenceSupport CEO and Leadership Team and in drafting blog posts to initiate and contribute to conversations relevant to school leadership development and closing the opportunity gap

• Regularly participate in the creation of necessary materials to inform the Board of Directors of ongoing brand awareness building activities, successes, and needed resources

 

Additionally, in FY20 (ending June 30, 2020) you will:

• Build an integrated communications plan (including earned media, social media, grassroots engagements, print materials, events) to drives awareness of Teaching Trust story, programs and impact; spearheads the development of the 2019 Impact Report

• . Develop internal communications guidelines, templates, tools, impact graphics to establish the External Affairs team as a sought after brand identity resource.

• Oversee planning and execution of Teaching Trust’s 10th anniversary celebration (spring 2020) in coordination with internal planning team and external partners.

You are a powerful communicator and story-teller.  You are known for clear, compelling and succinct communications at all levels within organizations and with external partners.

 

Ideal candidates will have:

• 5-7 years of proven experience in using communications and marketing to empower communities; understanding and experience in co-creating initiatives or campaigns with communities, track record in developing and managing communications and marketing to drive stakeholder action

• Experience planning, writing, editing, and producing newsletters, press releases, annual reports, marketing collateral, and other print materials

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, demonstrating resilience and a growth mindset

• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with ability to influence, collaborate, and build trusting relationships to drive results

• Experience managing digital elements of campaigns and initiatives, including video production, website content, social media, email management, and online advocacy and organizing tools

• High level of comfort taking and implementing frequent feedback to improve the work

• Ability to work well with people with a very wide diversity of demographic and cultural characteristics; must be capable of achieving results while maintaining an inclusive, collaborative leadership style

• Passion to work at an organization focused on ameliorating educational inequity

• Strong desire and ability to innovate and adopt new approaches to achieve results

• Exceptionally strong project management and time management skills

• Authorization to work in the United States required
