PHI is seeking a Project Manager to support the planning and implementation of an ongoing array of projects designed to improve job quality for workers in long-term care and improve the quality of care their clients receive. This position will work with PHI’s senior leadership to oversee the scope and the direction of each project and collaborate with program staff across its Workforce Innovations and Policy teams toward successful project execution. The Project Manager will develop and monitor project planning, implementation, and evaluation activities to ensure the organization meets its project goals and commitments on-schedule.
The Project Manager must be proactive, flexible, highly organized, and able to meet deadlines and problem-solve effectively. The ideal candidate has previous experience managing complex projects and is team-oriented, passionate about PHI’s mission, and a strong communicator.
- Support the planning and execution of a set of grant- and contract-funded initiatives within each of PHI’s two program teams: Workforce Innovations and Policy.
- Work with project contributors to shepherd each initiative through its implementation, including:
- Developing timelines, work plans, metrics, and project reports, leveraging PHI’s project management database and peer collaboration tools;
- Coordinating with program team members to complete logistics and programming tasks for projects and update project statuses; and
- Managing a project database to provide both granular and high-level overviews to support continuous progress on projects and deliverables.
- Manage information sharing systems and processes to support communication and execution of projects; support project staff in learning and transitioning to new information sharing systems as needed.
- Support program evaluation, including assisting with evaluation design, tool development, data collection, data analysis, and outcomes presentation.
- Communicate with both local and dispersed project team members to track progress and identify emergent project issues.
- Regularly advise senior leadership on project status.
- Conduct post-project evaluations, identify lessons learned, and apply lessons to future initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- At least three to five years of experience in a project management role required, with experience in a mission-driven work setting preferred.
- Ability to coordinate project teams of various sizes and learning styles and to leverage individual strengths to see projects through to completion in a timely manner.
- Impeccable organizational skills, with proficiency in and a passion for project management software, spreadsheets, timelines, and workflows.
- Experience supporting the implementation of project or program evaluations.
- Flexible work style to accommodate a range of team members and departments, often balancing multiple work streams, priorities, and relationships at once.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively align expectations among project teams and other stakeholders, including verbal and written communication, active listening, emotional intelligence, and an ability to overcome differences in understanding.
- Talent for developing clear and polished informational materials (including emails, memos, diagrams, tables, and charts) to effectively convey project details to internal teams and external collaborators.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office/Office365 Suite, as well as knowledge of and experience with project management software such as Salesforce, Smartsheet, or similar programs.
The position reports to PHI’s Chief Operating Officer.
