Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Executive Director and consistent with the mission of Girls on the Run Atlanta, the Finance Manager is responsible for critical bookkeeping, accounting and reporting functions that support the growth and overall management of Girls on the Run programs. The Finance Manager also assists with grant applications and reporting, as well as oversees the annual budgeting process.

Position Responsibilities

Budgeting and Planning

  • Contribute to the development of strategic and operational goals by developing fiscal strategy to achieve those goals.
  • Prepare annual budget in collaboration with Executive Director, staff and Finance Committee.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • General bookkeeping - track accounts receivable and accounts payable, invoicing, bills and bank deposits.
  • Analyze and effectively present monthly and annual financial reports to the Executive Director and Finance Committee as well as staff where applicable.
  • Recommend additions, deletions or changes to accounting policies and procedures; review with Executive Director and Finance Committee and implement accordingly.
  • Advise Executive Director and the board on critical financial matters.
  • Ensure financial compliance and manage allocation of income and expenses for all grants, sponsorships and contracts; assist Development Manager with financial reports.
  • Assist with annual audit by preparing required documents and files requested by auditor.
  • Prepare and present with review of Executive Director all GOTR International council reports.

Organizational Support

  • Oversee and manage office supply ordering and maintenance of office equipment and files.
  • Provide support to program team on registration fees and collection.
  • Support development team on grant applications, budgets and reporting.

General Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a role model for Girls on the Run, exhibiting GOTR core values and working to achieve our mission.
  • Develop positive relationships with volunteers, board members, community members and staff.
  • Support the organization in areas outside of typical responsibilities such as volunteerism, fundraising and marketing including site visits, coach training and the Girls on the Run 5K.

Required qualifications

  • Accounting and budgeting experience, including Quickbooks or similar software.
  • Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences (internal and external).
  • Willing to undergo a comprehensive background check.
  • Passion for Girls on the Run mission.

This is a part time position for an estimated 15 hours per week (no benefits). Days and times are negotiable. Hours may vary based on time of year due to the seasonal nature of our program. Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills and social emotional learning through a youth development curriculum that includes dynamic interactive lessons and running. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. You can find Girls on the Run programs in schools and community centers in Cherokee, Clarke, Cobb, DeKalb, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall and Oconee Counties.
