A. Organizational Overview
Founded in 2007, The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on the advancement of knowledge, resources and opportunities needed to use energy more efficiently in the southeastern United States. We do this by supporting the development of effective state, local and utility policies, expanding availability and access to research and resources to address energy efficiency in buildings, and growing the resources available to finance efficiency projects.
As one of six regional energy efficiency organizations (REEOs), SEEA is part of a strong national network dedicated to leveraging the benefits of energy efficiency for all communities. SEEA works collaboratively with stakeholders in 11 southeastern states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

B. Position Description
Built Environment Program
SEEA provides technical assistance, education, and resources to help our stakeholders make smart, informed energy-related decisions. The SEEA Built Environment team manages a portfolio of core activities related to advancing policy for energy efficiency in commercial and residential buildings, conducting research on building related topics, and expanding opportunities for construction industry training. Additionally, the Built Environment team monitors trending topics that intersect with energy efficiency, including but not limited to health and sustainability.
Position Overview
SEEA seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Built Environment Project Manager. Reporting to the Director of Built Environment, the Project Manager position will oversee a variety existing projects and programs as well as develop new initiatives for SEEA’s Built Environment Portfolio. These projects include but are not limited to: the Florida Energy Code Circuit Rider Program, multiple statewide Energy Code Training Series, and an energy efficiency pilot in the healthcare sector. This position requires excellent skills and abilities in organizational and project management, prioritization and time management, written and verbal communication, and performing multiple tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Management of Ongoing Projects and Programs
- Develop, execute, and manage projects to ensure they are on time, within budget, and meet the established scope of work.
- Manage contractors through ongoing monitoring of agreed upon scopes of work, deliverables, and budget.
- Monitor and report on project achievements and deliverables to ensure they satisfactorily meet SEEA’s quality standards as well as relevant stakeholder expectations.
- Communicate regular project updates to ensure a high level of trust among project partners and relevant stakeholders (e.g. funding organizations, interested parties, state agencies, etc.).
- Support project teams as challenges arise, including but not limited to identifying technical assistance and modification of project timelines and budgets.
- Prepare and submit funding reports, financial reports, reimbursement requests, and invoices as required by grant and project agreements.
- Collaborate with SEEA’s Built Environment Associate and Communications team to translate findings into a variety of media formats including reports, presentation, websites, webinars, and videos.
Development of New Projects and Programs
- Support the development of funding proposals by providing proposal concepts, assembling proposal teams, and creating budgets.
- For awarded or confirmed projects, identify stakeholder and/or funder expectations, create and maintain project documentation, and develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
Collaboration & Communication
- Facilitate information sharing amongst project and program teams and various stakeholders to advance knowledge transfer of projects, programs, and practices in the region.
- Demonstrate a strong desire to continue to learn and grow, upgrading both knowledge and skills, and the ability to accept and learn from feedback.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- At least three to five years’ related work experience in a professional environment.
- A genuine interest in energy efficiency, buildings, and sustainability.
- Experience in energy efficiency a plus, but not necessary.
Location & Travel
This position is based out of SEEA’s main office in Atlanta, Georgia and may require up to 20 percent travel.
Classification & Compensation
This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Annual salary range is $55,000 to $65,000. Successful applicants will be required to demonstrate their legal status to work in the United States.
