The Career Coach assists residents of The Drake House and Drake Village with skills and resources to secure and maintain full-time employment.  This parttime  position acts as a counselor to unemployed or under-employed residents to set career goals, discover employment skills, provide employment channels, and develop the resume and interview skills that will lead to employment options. This role also forms employer partnerships for job placement and coaching opportunities. This position is a critical component of moving residents from homelessness to personal independence. 

  • BSW/MSW degree
  • Understanding of low-income population needs and employment challenges
  • Must display an enthusiastic passion for the Drake House mission
  • Must be service-minded, demonstrate a genuine concern and empathy for the needs of others
  • Must have current relevant knowledge of career coaching and interview skills
  • Ability to coach soft skills
  • Must understand local employment landscape and be able to effectively match applicant skills with job requirements
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism in dealing with residents and potential employers
  • Must be able to maintain and protect confidentiality
  • Must be an effective networker who can build relationships with local employers
  • Ability to work both individually and on teams
  • Self-starter with ability to organize, establish priorities, and manage multiple assignments
  • Must display effective time management skills
  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment and display flexibility and adaptability as priorities shift
  • Must have basic computer skills
