Director of Mentorship

Summary: The Director of Mentorship Programs will develop and maintain the GGU mentoring program. In this capacity, the Director will develop and oversee a mentoring program with the collaboration of career services, alumni relations, student life, strategic communications and the academic departments. This position will enhance and facilitate institution wide opportunities for career focused alumni engagement with students. This position is also responsible for training and supporting alumni mentors and student mentees as well as developing strategic partnerships with alumni, community members and employers.
Develop and oversee a mentoring program
- Create and maintain a mentoring program
- Manage an online mentoring platform
- Coordinate and oversee mentor/mentee matching process
- Collaborate with institutional stakeholders to coordinate mentoring process
- Ensure mentor and mentee compliance with program standards and policies
- Determine what success will look like for the mentoring program and the data needed to assess those metrics
- Interpret, evaluate and synthesize data regarding mentors and student mentees to assess program, provide feedback to stakeholders and consistently improve the program
Train and support alumni mentors and student mentees
- Facilitate, create content for, and oversee mentor and mentee training in collaboration with other departments
- Provide training through a variety of online and in person engagement models
- Drive ongoing relationship with mentors
- Build and maintain strong alumni relationships
- Ensure mentorship structure and process is clear and all participants have a set of expectations and the
- Create records of interactions, when appropriate, in University customer relationship management system
Develop strategic partnerships with alumni, community members and employers
- Develop and present educational programs and events for alumni and students
- Perform alumni outreach to develop, retain, and grow relationships
- Identify, target and source alumni and community mentors
- Plan and attend alumni and community events
- Use social networking and other marketing tools to connect with alumni and community partners
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Comfortable with technology. Experience using social media to connect with volunteers, alumni or other constituents. Proficient with databases including Salesforce, Raisers Edge, and Symplicity. Demonstrated experience using MS Excel.
- 5-7 years of experience working with a mentoring program. Preferably in a University or a community college setting.
- Ability to work with a variety of peers and supervisors. Ability to work effectively as a team leader as well as independently; ability to train, inspire and motivate colleagues.
- Highly organized with good interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to anticipate needs, see opportunities and use good judgment in dealing with confidential information.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Highly proficient in communicating effectively, including an ability to write and speak clearly.
- Commitment to diversity and a knowledge of its impact on learning and development.
- Demonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and management
- Background in alumni relations or professional coaching preferred.
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years relevant experience. A master’s degree is preferred.
