Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Development Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the fundraising efforts of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, with a focus on grants management for private and corporate foundations.

As a key member of the Y’s development team, the Development Coordinator is passionate about the mission of the Y and its programs, and can effectively communicate the pivotal role the Y plays in meeting community needs. The ideal candidate is self-directed while managing multiple projects and deadlines; a strong storyteller with an editorial eye for details; and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to develop acknowledgment letters, grant proposals and report packages
  • Strong communication skills (strong grammar, proofreading, creative writing, word processing)
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated track record of setting and achieving goals
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks under pressure of deadlines
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Experience in fundraising or grant writing preferred
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Development in fundraising efforts for both ongoing annual needs and capital campaign needs
  • Provide support in the preparation of grant proposals and reports through research, writing, proofreading, development of attachments, among other tasks
  • Acquire and maintain detailed knowledge and understanding of the organization and its programs to develop persuasive presentations, grant proposals, grant reports, and other development pieces
  • With the Director of Development, develop and maintain an annual grant calendar of upcoming application and reporting deadlines
  • Draft assigned grant proposals for foundation and corporate funders, develop final materials for submittal, and ensure all deadlines are met
  • Provide grant writing support to Y branches and program staff
  • Draft thank you letters, interim reports, and final reports for all awarded grants
  • Prepare meeting materials including program overviews, powerpoint decks, and talking points
  • Maintain language bank and common attachments needed for proposals
  • Develop budgets in collaboration with program and accounting staff
  • Support development team and other Y staff as needed
  • Maintain grant records in database
  • Administrative support related to grants management and capital campaigns
  • Other projects as identified by Director of Development
