Overview

The Instructional Specialist will provide peer-to-peer support to the teaching staff, help them develop and/or identify their pedagogy by modeling best practices, assist them in applying/ understanding new knowledge, skills and standards relative to the ITERS/ECERS and GELDS

Classroom & Instructional Support

30% out of classroom and 70% in classroom responsibilities

• Gathers newsletter content monthly

• Provides timely follow-up support to encourage, guide and support teachers instructional planning and implementation

• Provides classroom resources monthly based on ITERS/ECERS designation

• Manages Development Assessment Process (Brigance, etc)

• Possesses working knowledge of ITERS/ECERS Environmental Rating Scales, GELDS. NAEYC and Licensing standards/ regulations

• Will be trained on assessment and observational data collection best practices

Develop a unified educational program of study, nurture and

fellowship for all age groups.

• Provide direct support and technical assistance to ITERS/ECERS
classrooms, while ensuring AFDS is in compliance with Safe
Sanctuary, BFTS and NAEYC Standards.
• Plans AFUMC Leadership Trainings in collaboration with Executive
Director
• Provide weekly updates during leadership team meetings
• Collaborate with Executive Director to ensure messaging is
consistent with the vision, mission and brand.
• Assists with development and implementation of strategic
plan.
• Assists with scheduling and conducting facility tours
• Gathers weekly email info from teachers for distribution

Requirements
 

Qualities
• Keeps Executive Director informed on operational and
programmatic risks and opportunities; provides analytic
assessment of organizational performance
• Ensure that all children's files contain updated
observational/assessment data and are compliance with all
licensing and accrediting agencies
• High level verbal and written communications
skills
• Discretion and confidentiality
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office
• Proficiency in English
• Ability to lift at least 30 pounds, sit or stand for
periods of time
• Ability to prioritize daily workload, execute and
complete tasks/duties timely with team support if
needed
• Keep team abreast of ITERS/ECERS developments,
best practices etc.
• Create PLC amongst ITERS/ECERS classroom teacher
and facilitate monthly meetings
• Coordinate and execute all children's programming in
collaboration with AFDS & Children's Ministry Team
• Maintains active membership and participation in
community organizations related to Early Childhood
 

Education
• Current knowledge and experience working with social
media and multiple forms of media, including branding
• CDA + 10 years of ECE experience
• Associate Degree + 5 years of ECE experience
• Bachelor's Degree + 3 years of ECE experience
• Maintains active membership and participation in
community organizations
