California Alliance of Child and Family Services seeks an entrepreneurial and visionary leader to serve as its next Executive Director. California Alliance of Child and Family Services (or Alliance) is the unifying force in the charge to lead change and impact the lives of the state’s children, youth and families. For those dedicated to improving the lives of these at-risk populations, the Alliance stands apart as the champion and leading voice for organizations that advocate for children and families, and for advancing policy and services on their behalves. Numbering over 125, the members of the Alliance are child and family serving organizations with programs and services in the areas of child and youth welfare, adoption and permanency, juvenile justice, special education, and behavioral treatment. The Alliance promotes an aggressive legislative and regulatory agenda on behalf of its member agencies and the children, youth and families they serve. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for driving the mission and strategic direction of the Alliance. The successful candidate will be an experienced team leader with the ability to be diplomatic but decisive and able to accomplish goals through motivation and delegation. The Executive Director will be a moderator of complex discussions with a variety of stakeholders and as such, should be able to distill ideas, clarify issues, and have the intellectual depth to facilitate dialogue among colleagues, peers and a variety of different interest groups. The successful candidate will have at least ten years of relevant senior level leadership experience at an association or other nonprofit organization. Public policy experience in the areas of child welfare or children’s mental health is highly desirable. A deep passion for the issues facing children and families is essential. While a relevant master’s degree is preferred, candidates with undergraduate degrees and extensive experience may also be considered.
