The Little Five Points Center for Arts and Community (“L5PCAC”) is seeking an Executive Director. The Executive Director is the key management leader of L5PCAC, responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Who We Are and What We Do

Mission: The Little Five Points Center for Arts and Community (“L5PCAC”) connects a vibrant and diverse group of arts and social change organizations within the historic Atlanta Community of Little Five Points. The Center serves long-standing partner organizations and the broader Atlanta Community by offering sustainable rental space, support and opportunities for collaboration and enrichment.

L5PCAC owns and operates the old Moreland School building built in 1919 and located at 1083 Austin Ave NE in the Little Five Points / Inman Park Community. L5PCAC acquired the old Moreland School from the Atlanta School Board in 1995 and now provides affordable rental space to arts organizations and community-based non-profit groups and businesses.

Partner Organizations of the Center include Art Papers Magazine, Atlanta Children's Theatre, Atlanta Jugglers Association, Euclid Arts Collective, Gateway Performance Productions / Mask Theatre, Inc., Horizon Theatre Company, Manga African Dance Company, Seed and Feed Marching Abominable Band, Shoulders Down, Inc./Rising Phoenix Tai Chi, WHOA (Women helping others) and WRFG-Radio Free Georgia Broadcasting Foundation, Inc.

Position Overview:

The Executive Director is responsible for the organization's consistent achievement of its mission, programs and financial objectives. The Executive Director ensures a successful day-to day operation of the L5PCAC as well as a continued growth of the L5PCAC in the areas of physical improvements of the property, programming and community outreach.

Job Responsibilities:

Board Governance. The Executive Director works with the Board of Directors to fulfill L5PCAC’s mission. This includes:

  1. Lead L5PCAC in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission and meets the objectives of the strategic plan.

  2. Communicate effectively with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

  3. Report and work closely with the Board to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising, and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.

  4. Assist Board in growing the Board of Directors membership.

Financial Performance and Viability. The Executive Director shall develop resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization. This includes:

  1. Assure the fiscal integrity of L5PCAC through fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.

  2. Provide the board with monthly financial statements, budget to actual report and other financial reports as needed.

  3. Develop an annual budget for board approval.

  4. Facilitate the annual audit and respond to auditor findings.

  5. Jointly with the Board, devlop and execute a fundraising strategy for additional resources to support L5PCAC’s mission and the implementation of the strategic plan.

Organization Mission and Strategy. The Executive Director shall work with the Board of Directors, and staff, to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach. This includes:

  1. Design and implement programs and events that further the organization’s mission.

  2. Jointly with the Board, develop a strategic plan to ensure that L5PCAC can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.

  3. Enhance L5PCAC’s mission by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations.

  4. Serve as L5PCAC’s primary spokesperson to the organizations constituents, the media, and general public.

  5. Oversee marketing and other communications efforts.​

Organization Operations. The Executive Director shall oversee and implement appropriate resources to ensure that the operation of L5PCAC is adequate. This includes:

  1. Establish employment and administrative plicies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the organization.

  2. Manage the leases for partners organizations and other lessees.

  3. Hire and supervise competent, qualified staff.

  4. Review and sign all contracts, notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization (with oversight by the Board of Directors).

  5. Ensure that the L5PCAC building and grounds are properly maintained and resolve maintenance issues in a timely and effective manner.

  6. Assist Board to plan, budget and carry out physical improvement projects on the property.

Professional Qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Transparent and high integrity leadership

  • Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience preferred

  • Solid accounting and budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting

  • Knowledge of Quickbooks preferred (or willingness to learn)

  • Strong organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation

  • Experience developing a strategic plan and the ability to convey a vision of L5PCAC’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors

  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector

  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteers, partners, and donor groups

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff

  • Strong public speaking skills

Salary:

  • $38,000-$43,000/year; commensurate with experience and other qualifications.
