National Center for Youth Law

The National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) has worked for more than four decades to improve the lives of marginalized children and youth. NCYL leads campaigns, weaving together research, public awareness, policy development, technical assistance and litigation to ensure government systems provide the support children and youth need to thrive.

NCYL’s unique strength is working at the convergence of youth rights issue areas, with intersectional campaigns focused on adolescent health, child trafficking, child welfare, education, immigration, youth justice, and reproductive justice.

NCYL’s mission includes advancing social, economic and racial justice, and we are committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion within. We embrace and encourage our employees' differences in age, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique.

Our staff are the most important part of NCYL's ability to serve its mission. The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self expression, unique capabilities and talent that our employees invest in their work represents a significant part of not only our culture, but our reputation and organization's success.

The Development Manager will secure funding for NCYL’s high-impact system reform projects to defend the rights of immigrant children, end child trafficking, protect LGBTQIA+ youth and students of color from harassment at school, hold foster care systems accountable, dismantle the school to prison pipeline, and advance the reproductive health rights of youth.

As part of an organization grounded in values of equity and justice, this is an opportunity to connect deeply to the issues you care most about in a creative, supportive, and inspiring work environment. Through this role, you will engage in close partnerships with NCYL program staff across all campaign areas, partner with leading national, state, and local foundations, and help drive the organization’s growth. NCYL has a $9.5M organizational budget with significant, multi-year investments from leading foundations. The Development Manager will have the opportunity to identify and implement new strategies that continue to build NCYL’s prospect pipeline.
