Position Overview:

The Information Technology Manager oversees all information technology (IT) for Living Room. Working directly with leadership, the IT Manager is responsible for the overall success, health, effectiveness, and strategy of technology used by Living Room and its stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong IT and interpersonal skills, as well as a commitment to the agency’s work and mission.


Tech Development

  • Oversees all technology operations (e.g., network security, hardware/software, file storage) and evaluate them according to established goals
  • Analyzes organizational requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs/desired state on a regular basis
  • Regularly inspects the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Identifies the need for and deploys upgrades, configurations, or new systems in relation to organization-wide technology strategy
  • Assists in building and maintaining relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts
  • Communicates technology-related activities in a timely manner to all stakeholders
  • Maintains technology equipment and systems for the purpose of ensuring that systems are functioning properly and effectively in support of the organization’s administration and programs
  • Manages procurement, inventory, and surplus of technology equipment, systems and related services for the purpose of ensuring that all technology purchases for goods and/or services are consistent with the organization’s technology objectives, and that the equipment is properly inventoried consistent with government regulations
  • Oversees function of the technology operations of the organization for the purpose of ensuring an effective, efficient and safe environment, where technology equipment and applications are utilized appropriately and efficiently to support functions of the organization
  • Works with the development team to identify outside funding opportunities for the purpose of providing additional funding to enhance technology within the organization
  • Tests technology applications, tools, and programs for the purpose of assessing proposed products, programs, or tools to provide feedback for administrative decision processes, to ensure appropriate acquisition of technology solutions and to assist others with these functions
  • Manages all technology troubleshooting and trouble ticket system to support all users
  • Installs technology systems and tools for the organization and ensures all technology systems remain in compliance with HIPAA and other information security requirements

Staff Development

  • Facilitates training of staff on current and new technology tools and systems, including writing training materials and conducting individual, group, and staff-wide trainings.
  • Supports the implementation of operational and technology initiatives (e.g., new systems and programs, hardware) for the purpose of assisting with delivery and implementation of initiatives, providing support and assistance to others, providing oversight of projects and/or training and providing information to others to ensure successful implementation

  Strategic Planning

  • Ideates strategies and initiatives to ensure that technology infrastructure and future buildout align, support, and advance the organization’s missional strategy
  • Conceptualize and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies with leadership

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field (Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science)
  • Minimum 3 years progressively responsible experience in the development, installation, and maintenance of information systems
  • Strong understanding and experience managing network component
  • Setup and operational knowledge of Windows 10 and macOS
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work well with all levels of users within a non-profit organization through both written and verbal communications
  • Highly organized with strong project managements skills, and drive to meet organizational and departmental objectives; ability to manage projects on interrelated time lines
  • Basic understanding of website maintenance and security
  • Proven ability to negotiate and work with vendors and consultants
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, VoIP, cybersecurity, file storage systems, databases, SharePoint, Salesforce, and data migration
  • Cultural competency and humility
  • Demonstrable experience with user training
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically about technology within the scope of an organization’s larger vision
  • Previous non-profit experience preferred
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and PCI Compliance preferred
