The Atlanta Opera is looking for a dynamic, driven Associate Director of Marketing & Communications to drive single ticket sales, increase subscription sales, and create better brand awareness throughout the community, enhancing the revenue and reputation of this rapidly rising arts institution.

 

SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Marketing & Communications works with the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop and implement all marketing, PR, and content production activities for The Atlanta Opera, and serves as stand-in for Director when s/he is out of the office. Supervises Marketing Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support for marketing activities including subscription and single ticket sales campaigns, advertising, telemarketing, special promotions, and audience development campaigns
  • Develop and maintain the overall marketing strategy to generate awareness, increase single ticket sales, and acquire and renew subscribers
  • Supervise the production of marketing deliverables, including advertising (print, broadcast, outdoor, online), direct mail, e-mail, promotional materials and other collateral in cooperation with the Creative Services Manager
  • Supervise marketing patron experience events like Opera’s Night Out
  • Help manage direct mail campaigns
  • Supervise proofing process for the ARIA, the Atlanta Opera’s production program, as well as content development and editorial calendar
  • Help manage budget by managing costs associated with marketing programs, while reporting updates to Director of Marketing & Communications
  • Coordinate press inquiries and schedule interviews with Artistic team
  • Write press releases, emails, and other opera communication as needed

COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent written and oral communication, and problem-solving skills
  • 5-7 years in communications, PR, or agency experience, with ad buying/media placement experience
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Affinity for the arts a plus
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Collaborative team player

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using Tessitura a plus
  • Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner
  • Position requires evening and weekend obligations during the opera season
