Development Associate for Advancement Services

Job Description

Position Overview    

The Development Associate for Advancement Services is responsible for providing support for the Development Office’s advancement services functions.  The workload of the position is restricted to that assigned by the Director of Advancement Services. The hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday (4:00 p.m. on Friday) during the regular school year.  When school is not in session, the hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (3:00 p.m. on Friday).

Major Responsibilities

  • Process gifts in Raiser’s Edge database, including cash, pledges, pledge payments, stock gifts, matching gifts, online credit card contributions, and in kind gifts
  • Coordinate with Director of Advancement Services to determine appropriate funds, campaigns, and appeals of all contributions
  • Execute monthly reconciliation with the Business Office
  • Generate daily acknowledgements in a timely manner to adhere to Lovett’s 72-hour turnaround receipting/acknowledgement policies
  • Generate and update Raiser’s Edge reports, queries, and exports in coordination with the Director of Advancement Services
  • Manage and process matching gift applications
  • Update and maintain gift-entry policies and procedures manual
  • Pledge reminders for True Blue Annual Fund and Capital Campaigns
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions in preparation for yearly audit; assist auditors by providing requested reports and other information
  • File maintenance for Advancement Services
  • Assist with special events when needed
  • Assist donors with giving questions/pledge information
  • Assist with record maintenance including new and returning families, divorces, and deceased records
  • Engage in other development duties as mutually agreed upon with the Chief Development Officer and the Director of Advancement Services.

Position Requirements

•          Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

•          Strongly prefer candidate with experience working at a school or another nonprofit organization

•          Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred

•          Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required

•          Possess the ability to prioritize work and the flexibility to change directions as the job dictates

•          Strong attention to detail and follow through required

•          Maintain quality of detailed work while meeting deadlines

•          Possess a high degree of organizational effectiveness

•          Communicate effectively with various types of people and in a variety of situations

•          At various times throughout the year, the employee is required to work outside of regular business hours for various job-related functions. The employee will receive as much advance notification as possible for these events and is required to attend them as part of their essential duties.
