Jacob's Ladder School & Therapy Center is looking for strong, self-motivated individuals to join our Substitute Teacher Team. Applicants must possess a strong background and desire to work with special needs children diagnosed with developmental delays such as, Autism Spectrum Disorders, PDD, Learning Disabilities, Language Delays, Delays unique to specific syndromes, ADHD, and Behavior Disorders. Substitute Teachers will provide one-on-one program implementation for students, as needed and assigned by Jacob’s Ladder Supervisors when teachers are absent. Substitute teachers support the development and implementation of a quality educational program reflecting the goals and values of Jacob’s Ladder. While all training is completed on-site, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree and have a strong background in teaching and behavior intervention with special needs children. Please note: this is an on-call, as-needed type of position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide each child with a loving, structured, and safe environment to learn and grow
  • May need to lift and/or assist with transporting students up to 50-100 lbs
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks, accepting supervision and acting independently as needed
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
  • Work as a team with other Teachers and Management Team to insure the integrity of the program is being delivered and the student and families are being served, all while upholding our mission statement
  • Meet or exceed performance area standards in attendance, quality of Program Implementation, Student Reports, Parent Communication, General Attitude, Teamwork, and additional tasks as assigned, as stated in the Performance Review
  • Communicates to the Director of Human Resources any changes to availability and training needs

Desired Job Qualifications:

  • 1+ to 2 years of experience
  • College degree
  • CPR Training, First Aid Training, Special Education Credentials
  • Related fields of study may include: Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Child Development
