Position Overview

In the age of industrial agriculture, reforming our global food system has never been more urgent—for animals and humans alike. Compassion In World Farming’s mission is to end factory farming and ensure that animal welfare is a top priority for food businesses and the broader public. This temporary post is a six-month position to assist the organization while a staff member is on maternity leave. The successful candidate will be highly detail-oriented, with experience in administrative support and event planning.

Position in the Organization:

-Line-managed by the Operational Enabler, this position supports the Executive Director and the US team.

This position is open until filled. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis as applications are received. Final deadline for applications is March 31, 2018.


60% Administrative Support

Executive Director Support:

-Professional communications by email and phone with movement leaders, corporate executives and funders.

-Calendar scheduling for meetings and conference calls.

-Booking travel and accommodations for business trips.

-Expense tracking and reporting.


Public Engagement Support:

-Printing and mailing donor acknowledgements and receipts

-Replying to general inquiry emails

30% Event Planning

Food Business Team Support:

-Coordinating logistics for the 3rd Annual Broiler Leadership Forum to be held in Decatur, GA on August 7, 2018.

-Securing meeting space, catering services, and post-event reception arrangements.

-Coordinating the printing and assembling of attendee packets, name tags, and other items.

-Ordering and displaying signage at the event.

-Representing and assisting CIWF at a professional corporate event.

-Coordinating other event-related logistics with the Food Business Team.

10% Miscellaneous

-Returning general inquiry calls.

-Printing and mailing of food business materials

-Operations support, posting job announcements, scheduling interviews, corresponding with candidates.


-Associates Degree or higher

-3-5 years of relevant experience in event planning and administrative support


-Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently on multiple projects

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and able to engage various audiences

-A dedication to reducing the suffering of animals
