Development Associate, Foundation & Corporate Relations

Grady Job Title and Number: Foundation & Corporate Relations Specialist (17001541)

Purpose:    Generates financial support for Grady Health Foundation (GHF) through research and planning necessary to develop grant proposals and manage grant awards. This position engages in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities designed to support the mission of Grady Health System.

Reports to:  Manager, Foundation & Corporate Relations

Supervises:   N/A

  • Researches, writes and submits proposals for Grady funding priorities to foundations, corporations, organizations and individuals
  • Manages grant reporting calendar and prepares reports to foundation and corporate donors
  • Identifies new funding opportunities to align with Grady priorities
  • Reviews grant-maker guidelines to ensure each proposal correctly conforms to application requirements
  • Reviews and helps develop project/program budgets for which funding is sought 
  • Handles post-award accounting and tracking activities in conjunction with GHF finance
  • Keeps in contact with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant in order to supply additional supporting material
  • Acts as liaison between project/program lead and GHF finance, to meet grant reporting requirements
  • Manages grant program routing forms and hospital department approval process
  • Participates in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of foundation, corporate and individual donors
  • Enters proposal data and related donor activity into the Raiser’s Edge database
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge and understanding of Grady in order to better comprehend projects and programs for which grants will be sought


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in grant writing for nonprofit organizations
  • Strong descriptive writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling
  • Excellent computer and technology skills
  • Knowledge of the foundation/corporate giving community
  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge or other donor database, including prospect research modules preferred
