The East Bay Regional Park District is a system of beautiful parklands and trails in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. We are currently seeking experienced and passionate individuals to join our team and become a part of this great organization.
The District is seeking candidates with accomplished secretarial/administrative work history, exceptional attention to detail, and strong customer service skills. This position is an advanced level class in this series and may have lead or supervisory responsibilities for assigned staff. Incumbents selected to fill the vacancies will perform a wide variety of confidential and specialized administrative support and clerical duties for an assigned department.
Performs a variety of clerical and administrative tasks requiring specialized knowledge of the assigned department's functions/programs. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to: processing personnel change forms, maintaining various databases; preparing contract documents and coordinating department work products; assisting with CEQA processes; assisting the general public with site reservations and program registrations; researching, analyzing, and resolving problems related to specific programs; answering telephone calls; preparing purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment; arranging for repair of equipment; processing payments; tracking, reconciling and depositing checks/cash; compiling data for reports; composing and typing correspondence, reports, and forms, using a word processor.
Senior Office Specialist is the advanced level class of this series and may have lead or supervisory responsibility for assigned clerical staff, which is distinguished from the journey level Office Specialist classification. Some positions in this class may be designated as "confidential" in nature, depending on departmental assignment.
Other Functions and Duties:
Other tasks related to this position will include: opening mail, designing and creating new forms, certificates, flyers; updating and maintaining filing systems; and receiving visitors; performing related duties as assigned.
Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school, and
Experience: Four years of recent responsible clerical or general office experience or one year experience as an Office Specialist.
60 SEMESTER UNITS MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR A MAXIMUM OF ONE YEAR EXPERIENCE.
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including knowledge of basic computers, including word processing. Ability to type 50 net words per minute. Ability to learn the District's computerized systems. Possess math and bookkeeping skills. Ability to attend to detail, be thorough, and follow through. Ability to interpret and apply detailed rules and regulations. Ability to speak and write effectively; understand and carry out oral and written directions with a minimum of explanation; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; familiarity with supervision. Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work at all levels, including a culturally diverse general public, with a focus on quality service to internal and external customers. Ability to perform continuous data entry at a computer terminal.
Certain positions will require a valid California driver's license as a condition of initial and continued employment in this classification.
The District currently has one vacancy located at the District administrative office in Oakland, CA. The hiring pools established as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and additional vacancies that may occur during the one year life of the hiring pools.

NOTE: Current EBRPD Office Specialist with a minimum of one year seniority may apply to be placed on a separate hiring pool for Sr. Office Specialist. These pools will be established at the same time, and for the same duration, as the Sr. Office Specialist hiring pool established as a result of this announcement. Supervisors will have the option of selecting from either hiring pool. If you are eligible for and desire to be placed on the in-house pool, you must submit the above application materials before the filing deadline and answer yes to the question specified in the supplemental question related to "promotional in-house" pool placement.

Possession of minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview or invitation to test. Pursuant to the Federal Immigration and Reform Act of 1986, all applicants who are hired will be required to provide proof of identity and appropriate work authorization documents prior to commencement of employment. The individual chosen for hire must be able to pass a background check, including fingerprint check, and District medical examination prior to employment. The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.
