Business Development Associate

 

Status: Full-time, 40 hours/week (including some evenings and weekends), non-exempt

Job Function:

The business development associate is responsible for supporting sales and promotional efforts, specifically focusing on lead generation, supporting partnership efforts and assisting with group bookings. This person will support the head of sales & business development and will focus on content creation, increase lead generation and building audiences for sales programs. This role requires a dynamic self-starter to join a fast-paced and collaborative cross-department team.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the head sales & business development and special events manager in generating new leads by creating and sending email campaigns, cold calling and attending various networking events
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications and education departments to develop cohesive, effective content for communication and sales efforts
  • Create and distribute year-end sales and partnership reports
  • Represent the museum at off-site as well as on-site networking events and community events
  • Support partnership efforts by tracking and creating benefit summary reports
  • Research various projects and topics when necessary
  • Work with the front of house staff to keep them up-to-date on all new sales and partnership processes
  • Support the head of sales & business development and special events manager with group requests and bookings
  • Maintain contact databases for business development & partnerships manager, and special outreach efforts
  • Other administrative tasks as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Writing and editing skills
  • Extremely organized, attention to detail, and project management-minded
  • Excellent analytical, research, creative problem solving, and organizational skills; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Consistently provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to interact diplomatically with diverse groups of people; establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with staff, visitors, the general public, and outside organizations and groups
  • Must be able to work after business hours and weekends if needed

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in marketing, sales, tourism or other related field
  • Experience in sales and project management a must
  • Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Galaxy a plus

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Physical requirements include stooping, kneeling, bending, standing, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing (ladders) and reaching above the shoulders and lifting of up to 50 lbs. Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as furniture, file cabinets, equipment, boxes, etc. will be required. Work may require weekends and/or evenings.
