CORA (Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse), the only agency in San Mateo County providing crisis intervention and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence and their children, seeks a 20-25 hours/week staff accountant to join our finance team with a concentration in A/P and A/R.

CORA History and Overview

CORA has provided services to survivors of intimate partner abuse for nearly 40 years. Our programs include Crisis Intervention Services, including a 24-hour hotline, collaboration with law enforcement, and support groups. Family Support Services provides mental health therapy, transitional housing for survivors and their children, and a children’s program that provides supportive counseling, weekly art and literacy programs, and developmental support.   CORA also provides education about domestic violence and legal assistance.

 

 

Position Title: Staff Accountant

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly self-motivated, team player to join our non-profit agency. The Accountant is responsible for the A/P processing and weekly check run, assists with generating invoices for grants, provides back for payroll and posting as well as other administrative projects as assigned.
 

Primary Responsibilities: Weekly A/P run and filing, Code and post A/R to QB Pro, Assist with monthly and quarterly invoicing, Assist with monthly development reconciliation, Act as backup to payroll processing and posting, Provide coverage for reception desk, make collection calls as needed, and Other accounting/administrative duties as assigned.

Required Skills: At least two years of accounting experience in a non-profit environment is strongly preferred, Familiar and comfortable with monthly close process, Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, Professional and friendly verbal and written communication style, Ability to inter-relate with people of diverse backgrounds and culture, Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, Strong 10-key skills and ability to check one’s own work, Proficiency in Quickbooks Pro/Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word and Outlook).

Reports to: Senior Accountant
