Innisfree Village, a voluntary community with adults with intellectual disabilities, is dedicated to providing a lifesharing home and work environment in an atmosphere of beauty, warmth, and respectfulness. All community members are valued, and all are encouraged to explore and contribute to a meaningful and challenging life. 

Innisfree Village is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization, life-sharing community of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that was created in 1971 by a group of parents in Maryland and Virginia who were searching for a progressive alternative to institutional care for their growing children with intellectual disabilities.

Set in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, near Charlottesville, Virginia, Innisfree Village residents (whom we call coworkers), volunteers, and staff live, work, and play together on a 550-acre farm in a therapeutic environment emphasizing empowerment, interdependence, and mutual respect of all community members
