The YWCA of New Britain, established in 1910, is a membership- based movement of women from diverse backgrounds and faiths, of different ages and experience, committed to empowering women and to eliminating racism.  The YWCA leads the community by helping women empower themselves through crisis intervention, education, job training, health promotion programs, and family centered programs.  The YWCA of New Britain is an affiliate of the YWCA of the USA, a world- wide organization whose imperative is “The empowerment of women and the elimination of racism.”  Local and worldwide efforts work to sustain peace, justice and freedom and focus on the economic empowerment of women.
