About Emmaus House
Emmaus House serves residents of Peoplestown, an underserved neighborhood in Atlanta just south of Turner Field where 48% of families live below the poverty line and 33% of residents do not have a high school diploma, compared to only 12.6% of adults citywide. In this context, Emmaus House seeks transformational change in the lives of individuals, within communities, and in the systems that shape lives. We seek to empower people whose lives are affected by poverty, race inequities, and educational disparities.
Programmatically we have two primary goals: to increase educational outcomes for children and youth and to provide opportunities that lead to economic independence for families. We work toward these goals using a two-generation approach to creating opportunities for and addressing needs of both vulnerable children and their parents.
