The Director of Behavioral Health will manage the overall planning, development and implementation of behavioral health programs for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland (BCH Oakland). The Director's role includes but is not limited to: strategic planning; business and program development; fiscal and contract management, personnel management; clinical integrity of service delivery; continuous quality improvement; customer and community relations and services; coordinating relationships between programs, medical center, physicians and community stakeholders.  The Director reports to the Vice President of Ambulatory Services and matrix reports to the Vice President of Behavioral Health Services and partners with hospital leadership and community stakeholders to ensure we provide sustainable, high quality behavioral health programs that align with and support UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital strategic priorities.

Behavioral health care services at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland emphasize a collaborative family centered approach and interface with all systems of care that serve children birth to 21. With $22 million in services, grants, and contracts, our mental health and developmental services are provided in the hospital setting, local schools, community based settings and homes. We are committed to delivering culturally accountable, evidence based and trauma informed behavioral health care to the children in our community, including those with the highest risk and need, and those who are marginalized or underserved.  Behavioral health care services encompass 17 service based programs and 135 multidisciplinary staff, with an aim to the premier behavioral health care institution for children in northern California, with proficiency in clinical care, training, research and evaluation and policy. 

Position Requirements: 


Minimum Education:  Master's Degree required (Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or Healthcare Related field). Ph.D. preferred
Minimum Experience: Five years of management experience with a clinical license and/or five years of overseeing child development or mental health operations.  Advanced knowledge of California County Mental Health funding system, Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) Supplemental Specialty Mental Health Services funding, and State, CMS, and TJC accreditation standards for child development and mental health care delivery.  Preferred County Mental Health and Health System Experience.
License Required:  California Clinical License preferred (i.e. Licensed Psychologist, LCSW, MFT, RN,  etc.).
Certification Required:  Board Certified in Healthcare Management Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power point).  Epic experience preferred.  Ability to review and contribute to competitive proposals and grant applications.  Demonstrated experience in management and/or administrative skills, practices and procedures, such as ability to create and organize systems. Excellent organizational skills.
Technical Knowledge:  Proven experience with Medical terminology
