The CDC Foundation is the sole entity authorized by Congress to mobilize philanthropic partners and private-sector resources to support CDC’s critical health protection mission. Since 1995, the CDC Foundation has launched approximately 1,000 programs and raised over $740 million. The CDC Foundation managed over 300 CDC-led programs in the United States and in more than 130 countries last year. 

Responsibilities: The CDC Foundation’s Data Analyst provides strategic leadership and direction for advancement team, specific to the use of data and technology, to achieve fundraising and organizational goals. The Data Analyst will utilize Salesforce to perform tasks associated with data integrity and maintenance, data analytics, reporting, dashboard development, training, campaign tracking and online giving and data quality control for events. 

The Data Analyst provides data/information management, data analysis, system auditing and compliance, formulation and implementation of data policies, consulting, procedures development, user documentation, data load management and internal departmental training. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex querying, data exploration, manipulation and evaluation, and list compilation as needed for assessment purposes related to constituent and financial reportsand analysis, and other reporting such as audits and fundraising, as requested and as scheduled.  Generate relevant statistical and analytical reports that drive the team’s continuous improvement efforts. Provide overall database analysis and development of reports and dashboards to track key metrics and identify trends.  Manage donor and organizational input on how newly acquired data should be stored in the database to best meet user needs and be consistent with existing data. Consult with clients and recommend and/or approve acquisition of new technology solutions to improve or automate existing processes.  Assist in building data extensions (queries for email) and support for all fundraising and stewardship campaigns, mailings and emails, to include accurate tracking, results and performance reports.  Collaborate with other departments, including IT, Communications, Finance and Programs, to determine and meet their needs, data integrity, reporting and analysis, standards, output and communication.  Assist IT with all database program maintenance, updates and trouble-shooting. Assist with all systems integrations, project management, business process improvement andtechnology solutions implementations.  Support, train and provide strategic leadership to advancement officers as pertains to their utilization of data and technology. Assist with department documentation, communicate data management policy and procedure changes to end users as necessary.  Become familiar with and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Foundation’s and CDC’s programs and activities.  Participate in staff activities, projects and assignments and assume other duties as assigned.  Must adhere to theCode of Ethical Principles of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals (AFP). Must be conversant in, and stay current with, Council for Advancementand Support of Education (CASE) standards, IRS regulations and financial standards as pertains to charitable giving.  

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, be a professional with a minimum of five years non-profit experience with a focus on data analysis, data integrity and maintenance, reporting, data enrichment, fund-raising accounting, gift processing and program tracking using a constituent relationship management system.   Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, advanced skills in Excel, including macros and pivot tables.  Strong management, planning and project management skills related to setting and monitoring goals, developing plans and timelines and measuring success.  Results-oriented, team player, collaborative and self-motivated. Able to work with multiple departments to propel the mission forward through innovation and initiative.  Natural curiosity with strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.  Flexibility with a proven ability to handle changing business needs, multiple priorities and deadlines with attention to detail. Accountability for meeting goals,objectives and deadlines with a proactive attitude and approach to work.  Exceptional inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train and coach staff on data management best practices.  Discretion in handling confidential information relating to the giving history and backgrounds of donors/prospects.
