DENTAL ASSISTANT – FULL TIME

 QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Certificate of completion from a Dental Assistant program.
  • Registration as a Dental Assistant and maintain in Washington State.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 3 months of hire.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish), for interpretation purposes.
  • Community or public health experience preferred.

ABILITIES:

  • Treats patients in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the clinic
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with children.
  • Ability to read and write dental and some medical terminology, knowledgeable in dental anatomy.
  • Competence success in computer skills including ability to use computer for scheduling, word documents and reasonable keyboard skills.
  • Possesses success in customer service/patient services or working with the general public, preferably in a medical or dental care facility

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Willingness to work on Saturdays, on a rotation basis.
  • Obtains digital dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Assists the dentist during a variety of examinations and treatment procedures: instrument transfer, dental procedure isolation techniques and preparation of dental materials.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Keep a clean work environment
  • Work as a team to provide quality patient care and support for the providers
  • Provide coverage during lunch hour and after closing as assigned
  • Participate in staff meetings, the staff evaluation process, and quality improvement activities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Moves in and out of exam rooms, front office, exam rooms, hallways, and waiting room. Spends a good portion of the day on feet
  • Some bending and stooping required. Requires lifting up to 25 pounds. Over 25 pounds requires assistance
  • Requires manual dexterity to maneuver for operating office equipment
  • Visual activity required to respond and react to client observations and to physical changes while assisting with clinic tasks
  • Eye and hand coordination and finger dexterity needed for entering data and reviewing software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, providers, peers, supervisor or other collaborative community agencies
  • Regular attendance is required for this position
